Against Bournemouth I'd like to see Woltemade up top with Elanga on the left and Murphy on the right.

It has to be this surely? Elanga with some fine tuning and a clinical striker up front will do crazy numbers for us.

So can play but ideally needs rest?

Not massively educated on the subject, but as I understand Achilles injuries tend to only heal from rest.  Constant wear puts them at further and further risk of rupture which can happen pretty spontaneously and would be a 10+ month recovery.

Stem cells, PRP and newer peptides like BPC-157 and TB-500 can probably speed up recovery, but will still require rest and I think the peptides are WADA banned now.

Got to have faith the medical team know what they're doing and wouldn't risk him, but for context, calf & Achilles injuries tend to be associated.  Willock was out for 26 games with Achilles issues the season before last and has already been out with a calf issue this season.

It's one of main issues where it can go from discomfort to rupture without much forewarning so tend to be treated with extreme caution.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on Jacob Murphy: "He is doing OK and it is an issue that we are managing. With Achilles tendon problems they are ongoing and players manage them.

"He is in the place where he is fit and available but we are just trying to manage his load."

What happened when he was put through on goal?!

Looked like he should have been able to get a shot off with his left before the defender could get close.

Why did he hesitate, or did he lose control of the ball?

Haven't seen it back.

It was brilliant defending. The shot wasn’t really on.

Didn’t think for one minute he’d get to the point of getting a shot away when he got the ball. Shame it wasn’t Gordon or Elanga (I know he wasn’t on at that point) in that position.

He wanted to keep the ball away from the defender so chose to go wider, a bit like he did last week in a better position against Bournemouth. In those instances your first move has to be across the defender so he fouls you, but that's more an instinct of a goal scorer, and I think Murphy is more an assist man.

Should've made the pass rather than shot when he ran through towards the end but other than that he showed exactly why he should start over Elanga.

At least against certain teams anyway. Murphy for teams who sit back and Elanga for teams who push forward. It's just so simple, why has no one else thought of it 😂 😂

i think if it had been 0-0 he would have slipped it to Osula.

Gets ball, creates chances. Our other wingers typically don't do that. Maybe that's because he is a right footer on the right?

I think it's partly that. But also because he's far better at delivering a cross than anyone else who plays in the wides areas. I'd argue he is THE best actually. Better than Trippier, better than Gordon, Elanga or Barnes.

Easily the best in this team and probably one of the best in the league. His crosses are beautiful to watch, so effortless and nice curve

There was no way we’d anticipate an Ange side to sit in like they did, if that was accounted for he’d have started Murphy no doubt about it. He’s great against those low blocks.
