Who hates him? He's been fantastic this season and has been consistent for far longer. He's got his limitations but what player doesn't.

Go back 6 months and see those who rated him championship at best.

Decent player to bring on for the last 10 mins that is it. Think this season will show the shortfalls in a few areas

Can’t be.

All summer I heard that he should start ahead of Miggy and is much better than him.

He has the same end product, and can’t run down the wing unless the opposition LB is out of position.

He has nowhere near tracking back ability as Miggy either.

They're both not good enough these days, but we can get away with one being the back up for a real RW until the summer, then sign a young up and coming RW to replace the other one.

That we're about to enter September 2024, 3 years after the takeover and Jacob Murphy who will turn 30 this season and Miguel Almirón, who will turn 31 this season, remain our main options on the RW is baffling. I don't know whether it can be put down to a lack of boldness, ruthlessness, planning, ambition or what but everyone knows they should've been upgraded.

Never again. He's Championship at best, his better games last season were when he was employed as a sort of wing back. Offered nothing , at least Miggy would have protected Livramento more. We have to upgrade this position if we're being ambitious.

Same level as Miggy really, couple of energetic wet farts

He's like Longstaff, can do the hard work bit and for that you can never fault him. Wasn't surprised at all that his pre-season heroics weren't repeated once the serious games came around. He can whip in the odd great cross or hit the odd decent shot, but ultimately he's not very good in possession.

Sick of the sight of him starting, couldn't give a shite about his pre season

Makes you wonder how bad Almiron is at training

Neither Murphy or Almiron are good enough to be second choice RW for a club looking to challenge for a top four spot.

Either of them starting is effectively carrying a passenger when in possession.

He’s never a first choice RW for a top six side and it’s debatable if he could be a starting RW for any side above the relegation spots

Should never, ever, ever start a PL game again. Same with Longstaff.

Should never be starting for us.

Would he start for any other team in the Premier League?

I genuinely have nothing against the Murph - but we really need to stop rewarding these type of players new contracts. Him and Almiron are here for another few years.

Before people start saying who - Morgan Rogers cost Villa £8m. Morgan Whittaker is available for £12m - I bet the risk is worth it.

Top lad and an even better pro but shouldn’t be starting.

There's no rule in life that says you simply must have one opinion on a subject and have to stick to it in perpetuity. Murphy was shite earlier in the season. He's played far better since, I still think we need to upgrade on him and I don't think goals aside he's played particularly well tonight.

Are we allowed to say Vardy isn't as good as he once was . I thought he was fucking brilliant when they won the league. Does that mean when he's 70 I have to say the same ?

Would have thought people wouldn't be deceived by the purple patch after Miggy's purple patch two years ago.

His form has lasted a lot, lot longer like. His numbers were good last season as well.

Murphy is a testament to Howe's managerial ability because in what other teams does he start for in the EPL? He's been good for us but it doesn't hide the fact that he's a very limited player. We're just very fortunate that he links up with Isak who mostly puts Murphy's chances away.

Was looking to see what you had on him from the past. You've clearly allways been a fan, and you've backed him all the way. Fair play. I totally get why people had doubts, though.

Can't help but love the guy, but we certainly need a new RW (especially with European football). He should be our second option

Frustrating how we wasted the best years of some of these players. Wilson, Murphy, Schär etc. They reached their full potensial pretty late in their carreers. I wonder how many more Murphys there are in the PL who are being held back by shit team mates and poor coaching.

Think Howe deserves a lot of credit for getting the very best out of some of these players.

And the players too, for putting their ego at the door and focussing on improvement and being open to constructive criticism

Feels churlish to point out his first touch was terrible following up the Schar shot...but it was. Nice finish though.

Did well for his 2 important goals (I suppose) but he misplaced a pass in the 57th minute which shows just how bad he is and how desperately we need to sack/replace him.

etc.
