Huddersfield Town 1 - 0 Newcastle United - 20/08/17 (post-match from p37)

Really nervous at the start but came back into it later on. Would be tempted to swap Richie and Atsu, then obvs the substitutes later on.

which way? Started with Atsu right and ended Ritchie on the right

Looked better with Atsu on the right imo

Gayle is scared to pull his hamstring so isn't running at full tilt.

Merino has made more forward passes this half than Colback has since he signed.

Hayden loves a tackle.

If that's the case he shouldn't be playing and what's the use in having a player who is not going 100% as he fears an injury

Are people honestly surprised? What were we expecting? It's a mostly Championship level squad. I've been saying for months that avoiding relegation (with this team) should be considered a success. Talk of the likes of even 12th is not happening.

We haven't lost yet dude.

We're also 1.5 games into the season. It's really not entirely clear where we stand yet and won't be for another couple of games, some of our key players aren't even properly fit yet. We're not going to pull up any trees, but it seems lost on people that we might actually get better.

They were swapped at the end weren't they?

They did, we looked better after that happened.

Aye we certainly did.

Didn't think Merino was bad at all. He's calm and usually looking for a tidy forward pass. Not just booting it forward like Shelvey vs Tottenham.

His short passing is top draw.

His positioning and pressing very astute.  Two standout moments for me when he got his position bang on and shut down possible dangerous situations.  Another where he pressed at the right time, moved through 2 or 3 opponents and forced Mooy to go back to the keeper.

He's class, but he'll always be a quiet player.  We need a Shelvey type with him.

Have people already forgotten that our success away from home was built on this sort of performance? Very rarely did we go all out to dominate possession and smash anyone. The majority of the team and the management are exactly the same, things aren't going to change any time soon.

We've definitely been schooled at passing the ball between centre halves and deep midfielder 18 times before smashing it out of play like.

 they've had too much of the ball for my liking and we've been poor but they've hit the by line lots to no avail, Elliott needs to get the lead out of his boots/gut and we just keep on frustrating them to the pot shots they're having. Best chance of the game was ours. Could do with Gayle being switched out.

Our lack of creativity is striking.

Can't see Ritchie being particularly effective in this league, and with us playing two defensive midfielders and Perez clearly not being a number 10 (despite playing well today) we will struggle to create chances.

Also Gayle looks sloppy too.

We should still be asking more questions of Hudds back line though.

Certainly not when the team is basically identical.

Elliott's kicking has been woeful as well, we desperately need a new keeper.

That attempt at punching the ball.....

We started slowly but that was obvious they would be pressing from the start. It's getting harder for them now on and I think we will have more control the longer the game goes.

Never understood the hate for Mbemba like, he had that one awful game in the champ but he's been good mostly

he had more than that.

Huddersfield's 2nd goal at our place comes to mind.

In fairness though, i can think of way more errors from Lascelles who doesn't get anywhere near as much criticism.
