If I were Villa, selling Watkins for £60m+ and getting Delap for £30m would be a good way to alleviate some PSR pressure and get younger / still talented striker in

Who’s spending £60m on Watkins? The chance was there in Jan when Arsenal made a move. I’d be very surprised if Arsenal revisted that deal again, especially at that price point.

Boat feels like it sailed. They’ll likely be bailed out by Saudis for Bailey and potentially Martinez.

Rodgers may entice Man City though.

Pep has a player similar to Rogers in Matheus Nunes and he plays him at right back.

Not to mention Rogers came through at Man City and was discarded.

Pep has no clue what to do with that sort of attacking midfielder.

Sure I’m just thinking of players like Rodwell and Phillips who have gone there, only for their careers to promptly die.

Can't see it going well for him under Pep either.

Be interesting to see how it pans out.

Rogers is x10 the player Nunes is

Prisoner of the moment. Band wagon jumper.

Why can't you just debate it in a friendly and polite manner instead of being so mean and rude

You'll have to forgive me but such was my level of disgust by the statement.

There is absolutely no point in discussing it further.

I'll gladly bow out. Thanks.

I agree with TCD, never seen Nunes play well and have seen him 20+ times. Not sure if his confidence is just shattered or if there is a good player in there somewhere but he’s absolutely nowhere near Rogers on any level. Rogers is better at carrying, extremely good at dribbling, physically a complete beast, has fantastic vision, has end product, he’s a complete player

If Brighton want to be a serious club and not just a feeder club, they should be all over Watkins. They have plenty PSR leeway that they can afford to go and get 1-2 "in their prime" players this summer if they wanted to make a fist of it. He's what they've lacked pretty much ever since they got promoted with us.

If you didn't see Nunes at Sporting Lisbon then I'm not interested in your opinion on the player.

Also, as much as people like to pretend otherwise, he also showed flashes in what was a poor Wolves team in the one season he was there.

There is plenty of evidence and scouting reports out there that will back up what I'm saying.

There is a reason Man City spent £50 million on him, even though they really shouldn't have, because he is not a Pep player at all.

But Pep is full of it and always thinks he can just mould these guys into whatever he wants.

Brighton spent big last season to move away from feeder club and singing more £30m players. Don’t think they will ever sign £60m because that’s still money that only the truly big clubs can afford to spend.

Rogers is so much better than Nunes that at the same time they were signing Nunes for £50 million they were selling Rogers to Boro for £1 million.

Maybe, just maybe Rogers is playing for a damned good manager in a pretty good team better suited to his play style.

Switch Rogers and Nunes situations around and let's see how they both look then.

He effectively had one season as a first team regular at Sporting then moved to Wolves.

His spell at Wolves then when he’s been rolled out at Man City is more than Sporting and easily enough for someone to judge him. If anything it’s more one good season in Portugal that we’ve seen LOADS of times from players moving from there.

All of their signings were between 19-24. Even when they pushed the boat out on fees it was still with an eye on profitability. They need a summer where they gamble unless they're satisfied with 8-10th being their best, maybe a place or two higher if a couple of the bigger clubs have a poor season like Spurs & Man Utd this year. Watkins would be perfect for them.

There is a very valid argument that at this moment in time, regardless of what has gone before, Rogers is the better player.

It's also possible to have a debate without being a condescending tit, you should give it a try sometime

Why are you commenting when from the outset you're wrong about what the discussion is?

And spare me the lecture please. You lot always pick and choose when to pull the moral high ground when it suits you.

Rutter was nearing £40m.

They’ve shifted from £10m signings to £25m where the chances of turning profit on those players when signing at 24/25 is heavily reduced unless they are proper standout. Like O’Riley,  Kadiogou, Wiffer are nearly £80m and not players you expect them to make profits on.
