Surely if it was Rafa we'd have heard about the 6mil buy-out being satisfied? How could they have progressed with Rafa to the point they are confident it'll be done within 7 days?

That isn't how it works though. Do you think PSG bid 200m for Neymer without already knowing if he was keen?

West Ham will have sounded Rafa out. Call it tapping up or whatever you like. That's how it works.

Oh aye. But the Neymar buyout was openly discussed for weeks, let alone 7 days prior. I mean officially one club surely has to mention it if it's so close to completion and involved Rafa.

Unless they wait til next week and get Rafa to hold a West Ham scarf with the receipt printed on it

Aye but again, in theory, West Ham could meet his release clause and have him signed in 7 days.

Yeah so if it's been met surely one of the clubs has to make a statement?

Didn’t West Ham meet Pellegrini this wk?

I’d be seriously seriously surprised if a moral man like Rafa binned us for those cunts. That ridiculous statement from one of the porn brothers is nothing to be concerned about imo. Rafa knows what he’s doing here with Ashley, and I’d bet that he’s trying to twist Ashley’s arm.

Exactly, Pellegrini has to be their man, decent appointment as well.

Call me stupid but if I were, the West Ham owner, I would not go on record saying I was already talking to the manager, before I have agreed to pay the buy out with his current employer, especially when there is currently another high profile case going on involving Silva.

This is Gold and Sullivan. In their first presser at West Ham they talked about how another club was about to go out of business.

Anyway guys, we will see.

Find it hard to believe that Rafa would have held any sort of talks given that we only played our last game 4 days ago. Would have had to have happened very quickly and I just can't see it knowing what we know about his character.

I'm pretty confident that he won't be signing for West Ham.

Keep saying stuff like this.

As if Rafa would show some much disrespect to the toon fans by agreeing to leave, 4 days after the end of the season.  Its the London press playing games again.  If Rafa were to leave do you think he would let the Dildo brothers make hints in papers before he came out and said something.  Cause not.

Hopefully this will provide some focus for Ashley and Penfold to get this sorted in the next week

Still confident this won't happen but losing the best manager we've had in years to West Ham would be a new low

Losing him is the issue really, where he goes is irrelevant.

Nah, if he was going to Spurs or back to Liverpool or even back to Valencia or something I'd understand it and there's not much you can do about it, but West Ham are a badly run club who have never done anything good over any kind of sustained period in my lifetime

I agree.

After the initial shock I’m calmer now. He won’t go to fucking West Ham.

Based on that statement, the options can only really be Ancelotti, Pellegrini, Benitez or Wenger.

I'd err on the side or Pellegrini

 that statement is exceptionally vague and could apply to anyone. They’re hardly going to hype their next manager by saying he has a piddling record.

I don't think he'll go to West Ham, like. Plus it's too quick for it to have been sorted out.

As long as Ashley's here, we're all resigned to losing Rafa, but I don't think it'll be until they fuck about and don't give him what he wants when they realise that you can't lie in contracts.

I don't know, I'm still not convinced, our club is renowned for putting out bullshit in to the media. They keep rattling on about Rafa wanting certainties over how much money he'll have to spend and how he spends it but once wages and running costs are deducted from the money the club makes I can't see that leaving enough for Rafa to do much with. I'll be pessimistic until anything is clarified I'm afraid.

Cheers

So they're not actually confident, they're just using this to promote his release clause. Marvellous.

basically this. They want him gone for having ambition but want the £6m

Sky Sports is largely manufactured narrative as well, and that's before getting onto the fact that Ashley's complicit with them. It all gets a bit tin foil hattish with all of them in the mix, but understandable considering the history of both.

In terms of who else Sullivan could be talking about - nothing's really opening up for Ancelotti, is it? He can't stay unemployed forever and it'd explain why Sullivan was so excited and happy....

This stage is called denial :(
