Cathro? What's Cathro got to do with anything? He left in December 2016. Between the end of January up until mid April 2018, we didn't concede a single goal at SJP.

And your other points are bullshite. Man United and Arsenal could go 1 or 2 seasons without serious investment because of the serious quality they already had. Rafa has no quality worthy of mentioning to work with. The fixtures to start the season haven't helped either.

Every side around us has spent on their squads whilst we've spent 100k.

We didn’t concede because we had an injection of quality from the loan signings we brought in (in January)

This squad finished 10th last season. Yet now we can’t win a fucking game.

It’s the same fucking squad. So how is that not on Rafa?

And money spent also means nothing. Fulham spent about 100m and are 3 points ahead of us.

Cathro is relevant. We definitely were worse for his absence.

Look, I’m not for a minute saying that our predicament is Rafa’s fault. That’s on Mike Ashley. It doesn’t even need to be said, yet it does apparently.

I’m just saying that Rafa hasn’t done as good a job as he did last year.

It’s pretty much the same squad as what he finished up with last season. Yet we’re now miles off that.

Why is he immune to criticism for this?

Several players have been way off what they were too. Lascelles being one, he looks a shadow of himself.

We’re a bunch of surrender monkeys this season.

And before someone says “if we stand still we go backwards” that’s not entirely true. Man Utd went a few seasons with the same squad and kept their standard extremely high. Arsenal went a few seasons without much investment and stayed in the top 4. Everton went a long time without much investment and stayed roughly in or around what they’d been achieving under Moyes.

Our run in last season coincided with a couple of key loan signings, but ever since he’s had more time to work with them, they’ve all gone off the boil.

The organisation that was present while Cathro was still a coach here is definitely missing.

The players and fans had hope last season that Rafa might be properly backed for a change in the summer and then extend his contract and we all know how that panned out due to the fat twat of an owner!

Cathro?! ?????? We weren't very fucking organised when Steve Mclaren and his HAAAAAAAAIR ISSSSLAND were here.

Of all the things to pick up on, the first team coach who left TWO YEARS AGO is one of the biggest issues.

You were saying that the only reason Rafa doesn't get as much stick as Pardew is because he's loved. That's completely different to saying that he hasn't done as good a job as last year, which also seems an odd thing to say after 9 matches, when we had even worse form from October to December last season.

It’s pretty much the same squad as what he finished up with last season. Yet we’re now miles off that.

Well yeah, every other team spent money to improve their teams and we didn't. I wonder why we're now miles behind when we already had one of the weakest squads in the Premier League.

Why is he immune to criticism for this?

Why does this need answering for you? The answer's simple, because the squad not being improved clearly isn't on him, it's on Ashley. I'm genuinely stunned that a Newcastle fan would ask this tbh.

The examples you've mentioned are teams that were either challenging for the league or challenging for Champions League places, already had the players to do so, and they ended up in the same position. We're a team that struggled to stay in the league last season, had players bought for the Championship, and we're in the same position. What's your point? How is that even a remotely relevant comparison anyway? Spurs didn't spend any money, should we suddenly be as good as them because we haven't either? Or is it simply because they already have most of the players they need?

Our run in last season coincided with a couple of key loan signings, but ever since he’s had more time to work with them, they’ve all gone off the boil.

Correlation ≠ Causation.

Dubravka was a big upgrade, but our defensive organisation through 17/18 was already very good.

This squad finished 10th last season. Yet now we can’t win a fucking game.

Again, last season we had worse form from October to December, yet you're talking as if we were 10th all season.

I think this one's been answered enough now.

And money spent also means nothing. Fulham spent about 100m and are 3 points ahead of us.

:spit: and Man City and Liverpool spent about £200m between them and are top. What sort of daft point to make is that? Of course money means something.

Cathro is relevant. We definitely were worse for his absence.

Cathro left in December 2016, man. Our defensive record has been exactly the same.

Fuh-king Hell
