If I were PCP I wouldn't take the risk in buying us in Feb, if Ashley follows his recent pattern of under funding the window we are going down, even with Rafa in charge. Why push a deal through in those circumstance, you could be over paying for a champo club ? Unless of course our form has completely turned around and we are on about 30 points or something.

I do think we'll get decent results in our games (apart from Arsenal & Man City) before the end of the New Year. 20+ points going into Stoke away and we're well on track to stay up. Still need some investment in January though, where that comes from, I don't know.

He owns the Daily Express, Daily Star, Channel 5, and some soft-core porn TV channels. He’s one of if not the biggest backer of UKIP and the leave campaign.

Why take a chance though if you are PCP ? If you can't get a deal done in before January is out, just wait it out a little longer, they've no competition, see which division we are in and then push on or look elsewhere.

"Our photos show the newspaper and magazine owner, wearing a navy coat and jeans, appearing to punch the air in celebration as he says goodbye to Staveley.

And Desmond repeats the gesture when waving off Ashley, who is in his trademark white shirt and jeans and is driven away by Linda in their 4×4."

Sounds promising?

This is probably a stupid question but couldn't Ashley and Staveley agree to the club obtaining a loan from an external third party (ie a bank) to assist January ahead of a takeover? That way Ashley doesn't have to put any of his own money in, and Staveley can settle it at her leisure further down the line. Basically just like any other football club without a billionaire owner would do.

You'd think so, bridging loans are a thing.

So long as the loan doesn’t exceed the debt to turnover ration, then yes.

Someone please reassure me that Richard fucking Desmond isn’t the investor behind Staveley.

Their mutual friend Desmond joined them for food at Paradise in Hampstead, as did Ashley’s wife Laura.

Our photos show the newspaper and magazine owner, wearing a navy coat and jeans, appearing to punch the air in celebration as he says goodbye to Staveley.

And Desmond repeats the gesture when waving off Ashley, who is in his trademark white shirt and jeans and is driven away by Linda in their 4×4.

Ashley knows newspaper and magazine owner Desmond through another mutual friend, Dr Keith Harris, an investment banker who tried to help him sell Newcastle in 2008.

While Staveley is a long-time acquaintance of Desmond and was pictured with him in June 2016 at the summer party of PR firm Bell Pottinger.

Wasn’t it one of Desmond’s newspapers that ran with the story about the bid a couple of weeks ago?

I honestly think he’s involved.

I hope not, I hope he’s just a mutual friend who has been getting snippets of information and has decided to intervene to help push a deal through in order to get some sort of exclusivity to the story or an interview after the deal is complete.
