West Brom 2 - 2 Newcastle United - 28/11/17 - Post-match reaction from page 30

Recommended Posts

Morale-boosting point from 2-0 down after a run of defeats, and I'd have probably taken a point before the game.

That said, they were patently shite and it feels disappointing not to win. Considering the state of our defending a draw is probably a fair result, but we played well after getting the first goal back IMO. Shelvey and Mitrovic made a real difference.

Darlow 6 - no chance with either goal, didn't really do much aside from that

Yedlin 5 - disappointing at both ends

Lejeune 5 - not seen much but another match where we look shite in defence with him in the team

Clark 5 - lots of stupid decisions in his own third and got lucky, point back for the goal

Mbema 5 - prefer him to Manquillo but they got way too much joy out of him in terms of crossing

Ritchie 6 - better, some excellent set piece deliveries again

Hayden 5 - didn't really do anything

Merino 5 - poor by his standards, understandably rusty

Murphy 5 - tried, but kept losing the ball

Perez 4 - worked quite hard, but offered absolutely no threat

Joselu 4 - see Perez

Aarons 6 - threatened, but made a couple of really poor decisions

Mitrovic 6 - much better than Joselu, that's all that matters, right?

Shelvey 7 - perfect situation for him, made things happen

Start with Shelvey and Mitro and we shouldve walked it

Don't think it's as simple as that. Shelvey in particular had good reasons for being dropped.

Aye, it was probably the fact he was dropped from the starting line up that made him go up a gear off the bench tbf

Pards confirmed on SSN.

Not many "magic" players in that wba side. Hopefully it starts shit very early. Know he will do shit, hopefully earlier than usual. Hope the WBA players learn quickly from him.

I'm happy with a point, especially in that manner. The team needed a boost in confidence, particularly in front of goal. If only we'd snatched a later winner it could have been the game to kick on from ala 4-3 versus Norwich last year!

Drawing from 2-0 up at home to Newcastle and then having Pardew confirmed as your manager. Oof, that's got to sting.

I thought Ritchie was awful, offers fuck all really. He's been shit all season, hits first man with every cross, slow as fuck, no goals in him.

Yet has the joint third most assists in the Premier League this season.

At least their fans seem to have their heads screwed on, unlike Palace's insistent know-nothings on their messageboard.

Mr 'I don't rate Rafa' on SSN just openly admitted he doesn't follow Newcastle enough to know why Shelvey wasn't playing tonight.

Why are you doing our game then, you cunt? Isn't it your fucking job to know?
