Any money we can get for a 35 year old whose contract expires in 5 months is great money, especially in these FFP times.

Any fee would be <£1m and completely trivial for PSR purposes. If Dubravka contributes to us finishing a single place higher than otherwise - which is hardly implausible given how good we and he have been recently - it would likely generate more revenue in this PSR period than whatever fee we'll get for him.

So if we are following the Sven Botman storyline, Pope is gonna return and then his unknown knee injury that has kept him out recently is gonna explode.

Leaving us with Vlach and Ruddy for remainder of the season ;)

Didn't we sign 2 or 3 hot prospect keepers around the start of the takeover?

All still too young, haven't worked out or I made it all up? :harry:

Edit: worked it out. Jude Smith was a bust, released last year and plays for Carlisle. The others that are highly rated are too young likely.

We have 12 keepers between our first team and u21 squad though, according to .com. one is on loan. Do we field a team of goalkeeper for closed door friendlies?

Camera lingering on him at the end and showing him getting emotional. This is basically an official statement

Aye, Burn even pushes him to take the applause. They definitely knew this was his final game for us.

Side note - Just before the Dubs part of the clip, big Joe...wow..what a human specimen he is. Beast Incarnate!

Perfect scenario would be he signs a contract extension but with the same sort of deal agreed for him to leave in the summer instead.

If not it obviously makes complete financial sense to cash in now if the rumoured fee is true, but definitely leaves you feeling nervous at the same time. Can fully understand EH not wanting to head into the next PL game with Vlach or Ruddy starting and knowing we are any sort of Pope setback/injury away from them having a run in the side. I'm not even sure I'd have Pope come straight back in anyway if Dubs was still here.

Hope was saying they'd be buying out his contract. So we get maybe £1 million in funds and save another million on wages is my guess.

Can't see anyone paying 6million for a 36 year old dubravka they can sign for free in 6 months.

Pope is allegedly back in 10 days and we have 3 other keepers on our books.

Pope could be out for weeks still, Ruddy and Gillespie haven't played a minute and aren't proper options, Vlach has played what, one game in the league cup? I have to say the timing of this feels very bad, would be so much better to keep Dubs and let him go in the summer.

Yep, it makes financial sense to sell now, £1 now is better than nowt later, the other issue, why bother having these other keepers not being used , getting paid, if Howe  can't trust them, one of them must be able to do the job, just as Anderson ? did for Spuds recently and to me he did really well, unless you try them in a competitive situation then chase them .

Austin. As my Spurs-supporting mate said, his dad also used to have an Austin that only started once in seven years.

You are right of course but we are talking about a league rumoured to be willing to pay £30m and £500kpw for Casimero. If we got something around £5m it would hardly raise eyebrows. At least it shouldn’t but as you know it’s NUFC selling to Saudi…

What is the rumoured fee?

My view all depends on what we actually do or don't get for him.

Is the rumour of a buyout and likely very, very nominal fee correct? Then just keep him for 6 months.

Is it £5/6m? PSR dictates that we'd need to snap their hands off. That's the first year's cost of a £25-30m player.

Considering the age, contract and how determined we are to play nice I fear it's the first and just wouldn't feel worthwhile.

If he wants to leave then imo you have to let him go, he may want to move on as this opportunity may be too big for him at his age.

Fair point. I'd have thought he'd be loving this spell and would take another 6 months but maybe he thinks the opportunity won't be there in the summer.

It's just all felt to me like it's driven by our desire to finally shift some players rather than him pushing for it.

He knows the setup better than any of us and may think something like he knows regardless of how well he does pope will walk straight back in the team or something and he wants more, also gets to leave on a high, who knows the full story? I just doubt it’s just down to us pushing him.

True, though I think when Saudi spend big on fees it's usually on big names. Perhaps they'll do us a little PSR favour though, you never know.
