The PL had these assurances several months before the takeover happened. They just used those old assurances as a excuse to try to explain why the takeover could suddenly happen because they were running out of road. The club were happy not to contradict them because they got what they wanted. Claiming the entire thing was just about needing assurances that one of their members wouldn't be ran in a unscrupulous manor, and now all of a sudden those assurances have come along, was just the most palatable way to back down. Especially since they could then claim a postion of strength by saying that IF those assurances were broken they could take action. Something they'll never ever do btw. Very jealous, very nasty and very, very bitter because in their hearts they know the old rivalry has gone forever. They will never be on the same platform or able to compete with us again. They're a silly little parody of a former football club, stuck in league 1. Even if they got promoted they could not compete in the Championship and the Premier League is a distant dream. Over time their support will dwindle locally as young kids and future generations will cross over to NUFC. In north east rivalry hey have even fallen way behind Boro (and they are shit). It’s like All The President’s Men if everyone in the Washington Post’s newsroom had some sort of low level personality disorder. Let’s be frank here - the PL know what the crack is with our ownership. They stitched themselves up by being so transparently corrupt when it initially landed on their desk, and had to come up with some face saving bollocks about the Saudi state to bat back questions about piracy and BeIN.
