Guest Darth Toon
A Roeder target for Jan according to today's BBC gossip: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/6185261.stm "Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder wants to sign Middlesbrough centre-half Chris Riggott in a £4m deal. (Daily Express)"
Guest tobiazvanderziaz
What?! Never thought about him being better than average or maybe only quite average. I think we should spend some cash on a really good defender or two, so we dont end up in a new Moore, Bramble, Ramage.....
Newcastle Fan
what happened to all the good defenders?
Dunedin
Shows Glen Roeder's ambition if this is the calibre of player we are after. Can he attract good quality players who are not simply mercenaries ?
Cajun
Havent seen him that much but he seems a decent defender to me, rather spend £4m on him than Upson!

Guest nufcandy
why would anyone want him? he cant make it at boro so why bring him here to make stupid mistakes?! weve already got enough in the side that do that

Guest smoggeordie
I think he's a decent defender, but no improvement on Taylor or Ramage. If we're buying centre backs we should be going for pure quality, as we have plenty of "squad defenders"

1878
I reckon he's a good player, underrated. Was linked with Liverpool last season wasn't he? I think he's better than anyone you have currently got

Yorkie
Riggott's underrated and has been something of a fans' favourite at Boro for the last couple of seasons. He's been injured recently but has always been fairly consistent in the Boro side. But he'd be nothing more than a stopgap... £4m on a stopgap? I'd rather we went for someone with a little more quality tbh. He's consistent and professional, but i can't really see him improving our defense. :? £5m and they chuck it Viduka I like that, though. toontownman
Cant see why we would want to shell out £4m on Riggott and yet not be interested in paying about the same for Upson and half of the price for Distin who are both better IMO. Just more made up paper talk.

Dave
What does your mate reckon, Wullie?
Wullie
Says they don't need him, he's alright, but no better than Pogatetz, Huth or Woodgate and he's been very amused by the idea of getting £4m for him.
Yorkie
Aye - £4m is too much. For £1/2m - i'd definitely take him, absolutely no doubt.
