It’s probably time to make the FA Cup optional TBH, just let all the PL clubs who can’t be arsed sit it out completely.

Definitely. Ashley's nufc and Rafa would snap there hands off

For f*** sake.

What? They would

Ashley yes, Benitez no.

Benitez yes. As proven yesterday and numerous times. That's not an assumption when the evidence backs it up. Yesterday was a big f you to the supporters who turned up but it's just quietly accepted we don't do cups now. Imagine this joke of a setup going on in the 90s man. Wouldn't have happened

Benitez would love to win the FA Cup with Newcastle, but he's going to do what he feels is right and focus on staying in the league.

A big f*** you to supporters.

Actively losing an FA cup game that 35,000 paying supporters sorry sheep turned up to and many thousands more were hoping for a cup run and a tiny shred of light following this shit club is a big f you. Yes

They play shit and got knocked out. That's all there is to it.

Because he picked a s*** team and going off the apparent lack of interest it wouldn't surprise me if he said to them just take it easy etc

If it was just once or twice I might agree with you. But it's 11 years of cup exits to all sorts of poor teams. It's more than just a coincidence at this point like. Add in the statement around 2013 about not been bothered about cups and it all makes sense.

Playing Woodman in goal and Joselu up front is a big indication that we weren't arsed about winning it.

He really wasn't. He was desperate to protect some of his key players, what happened in the game was a consequence of that. He wasn't desperate to go out.

Watford made 11 changes.

We're just not very good.

You don't play Woodman ahead of Dubravka unless you kind of don't care about losing, howay man.

You wouldn't give a young, understudy goalkeeper an opportunity and would rather just leave him on the bench indefinitely, potentially damaging his confidence long term?

Fantastic man management.

Well let's just agree it was both. He didn't want to go though and we are shit anyway.

The thing that bothers me is every year we play a weak team, we know they aren't good enough and we go out every single time. How about we just stop doing it!? Rafa must have had a good idea that team wouldn't go through and there was certainly no appetite from them to get through.

No. Send him on loan if he wants/ needs to play. How many more years are we going to give young players a game in the fa cup only for us to get knocked out! They never amount to anything anyhow

When is our talented young goalkeeper going to play then?

His contract expires in 18 months, he'll definitely be off he doesn't get any game time at all for us

I wouldn't play him, keepers don't need a rest.

So you'll be happy for Woodman to become unhappy and leave the club? We rarely produce any talented youngesters so this doesn't seem the wisest idea to just never play him

Not in a knockout match that you want to win, but Rafa didn't, so that's why.

So you are more bothered about Woodman being happy than trying to win the FA Cup, fair enough, i'm not.

If it meant getting to the later stages of the FA cup then yes. Our track record with young players suggests he will end up championship at best anyhow, which will probably be ideal for the course we are on
