Wilson
whatever the case, he should have punched it. Rafa more or less said this, that in England they allow the player to impede the keeper so you should always punch it to prevent them the chance. Rafa also said he wasn't clear on whether it was a foul. It's alright saying punch it, but the evidence is there that he was fouled....which makes everything else moot. Ryan
You'd get that decision in Europe 100% I think you get that decision in the PL too if you’re a top 6 club or the home team.
Away Toon
It's just such a bad goal to concede, foul on Almiron, or it looked like it anyhow, not stopping the cross coming in, not one of our defenders with their feet off the ground, and Dubs not electing to punch the ball. Still for me what's worse is that we continue to give teams possession all the time and rely on them not being good enough to get past our defence. How about we try and impose ourselves on the opposition, take the game to them, try and get more than 40% possession and use the attacking players we have to try and win games, not score 1 against the run of play and then defend for the rest of the game. Tribesman
Can just imagine the reaction if he punches the ball out for the corner and they score from the resulting corner. Then everyone would be banging on about how he should have caught it. Well he should have caught it, it went through his hands. Because someone hand are round his face. Not enough for him not to catch it.
1964
Almiron wasn’t fouled but 95% of challenges on the keeper like that are given. If that was liverpool it’s given, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, it’s a foul 100% of the time

You have two pundits in the studio who still don't think he was fouled. That is why Rafa is saying punch it, too many people don't think it's a foul unless the keeper is actually assaulted. Don't give the shitty refs any option for the inevitable poor decision basically. Because you know they will give them.
BlueStar
Didn't realise it's the same ref who gave a penalty for that X-rated foul on Salah on Boxing Day. Let this sink in to the "no foul" lot. Salah gets a penalty for being barely touched from the same ref that don't think two arms in the keepers face is a penalty Wouldn't have been happy if he'd given a penalty like. As far as I'm concerned Rafa hadn't seen the replay properly when he made those comments, you're now seeing what he has to say once he's seen it. As for Carragher, I'm sorry like but he'd made his mind up already. You could actually see him looking for reasons why he was right when he slowed it down paused for a good few seconds then said 'it looks worse when it's slow lets watch in real time'. No one can convince me that it wasn't a foul and I'm fairly certain Dubravka deals with it if he wasn't fouled, especially considering his form all night. Stifler
The sub took 20 seconds, the time was past that. Almiron was fouled in the corner. Dubravka was fouled. Was even a handball by the Wolves player before it went in. Referee has plenty of opportunity to finish the game before the goal, he had plenty of opportunity to give us a scenario where we would have finished the games off. The referee wanted Wolves to score, that’s all that matters. The fact that he reacted so angrily when Rafa called him out says a lot.
Theregulars
BBC sport saying it’s a foul. Argh ffs man; it’s just so wrong. Undone twice by FC Money Laundering Ft. Bentref
Guest neesy111
If that's the other end, this place is up in arms if it gets disallowed. Subjective decision and can't use stills as justification for it, in real time it looks fine imo. Like f***. All the talk is about how s**** we've been in the second half, Rafa not being brave enough to start Almiron, and how those get called a foul 99% of the time. Your the snowflake who said almiron wouldn't come on.

Nah, the sub took longer than that, think it was around 45-50 seconds Absolute blatant foul on Dubravka though

Interpolic
It seems like there is one rule for Newcastle and another for the rest of the league tbh. We get barely any pens, nee reds against us for years, we have situations like that where the ref plays until the other team scores despite being beyond the allocated time even with the sub factored in and a perfect opportunity to blow the whistle well before he did, but inexplicably playing on instead. And finally the challenge on the keeper - it's a running joke in this league that you can't go near the keeper, you most certainly can't put your hands over him like Boly did - it gets given as a foul whether it's a foul or not because it's too vital a call to get wrong basically. But nah it's Newcastle so fuck em. The run of decisions we've had against us this season is beyond a fucking joke to the point of blatant bias with no fucking consequences for anyone. Bring on VAR, not saying it necessarily affects matters this evening but we are getting fucked over time and time again, and can't do any worse out of it than we are currently. Guest neesy111
I think people are mistaken that VAR will turnover most decisions, it won't from what I've seen of it in europe.
Wilson
It has to help with some of the shit we get against us though. Can't be any worse as far as we are concerned.
