Yorkie
There are also the countless transfers where players come here and never end up playing - Xisco, Saivet, Ferreyra, Nacho etc. Dodgy AF. Doumbia and Ireland, too. Curious thing about that crop is that there's no potential for profit, so who knows what the motivation is.
Disco
Good post Yorkie although I reckon McClaren would have had some input into it, more than Pardew anyway. It's a fishy one like. I suspect the 'fee' is highly inflated by add-ons etc that won't be realised unless he becomes the new Fenomeno. Guess there's no real way of ever knowing. Happinesstan
I reckon we've paid £20m with another £20m if he scores 10 goals. It would explain the tactics.
TBG
Mind we'd be buggered if our incoming managers didn't also happen to be scouting the same players.
Guest
Stelling yesterday was saying ‘Rafa had Rondon’. He genuinely wouldn’t do anything the way we play in the same way he got nothing under Pulis & Pardew. Already know that Soccer Saturday will defend Bruce and they’ll scapegoat this lad and Almiron. huss9
£40m should be buying the finished article, not potential.

You'd think we'd had Christian Vieri in his pomp upfront last season the way the Brucey Boys are going on. Also, Bruce has happily stated on the record that he'd prefer Joelinton to Rondon anyway and that he signing him was his decision.
Shearergol
I've heard from countless sources that we've only paid £20m for him. Not that it means anything, but I suspect if we get £25m for him in summer Ashley wins.

TRon
£40m should be buying the finished article, not potential. Maybe if they are approaching 30, otherwise I can't think of many proven goalscorers going for £40m. Richarlison maybe, but then he was picked up for not very much at Watford, then one big season and his value rocketed.

Guest
Rafa got us 10th without Rondon, Pulis and Pardew took WBA down with Rondon. I’ve no doubt we’d be seeing the exact same tactics and performances as we are now whether it be Joelinton or Rondon. Rafa didn’t play Almiron out of position, he’s not going to produce when you play him right wing-back. I’m sure some random young German speaking coach in the Farke/Hasenhuttl mould would have taken us on had Ashley even considered someone like that. Rebellious
Worrying already how unimpressive Joe is, likes a whinge and a stroll about. Hoping its because its early days but i`m not so sure, think i`m with Rafa on this one. Even melt face couldn`t wait to get Carroll on.

Hoping its because its early days but i`m not so sure, think i`m with Rafa on this one. Even melt face couldn`t wait to get Carroll on. He did have one really impressive moment today; brought it down fantastically well then fed the move which led to Shortstaff's effort which clipped the bar. High ball, over the right shoulder, awkward height - but got it under control with Berbatov levels of finesse. Didn't notice much else, like. Who knows how good he is. toontownman
He needs protecting and his confidence boosting. If Carroll can stay fit it will help. Predictably Joelinton will be on the bench soon but that is not necessarily a negative. There is really nothing that comes through the middle to help him. He doesn't look capable of being the game changer we need up front and the team isn't confident or playing well enough to help him out. We have seen he has the tools but is as predicted not the finished article.
D. Yimentov
He looks guff. Maybe it's time to start kissing the badge and telling Lee ryder he used to sleep in a Kestbaia shirt.

Carroll was worse if anything, although he did get one header in on goal. I don't think Joelinton is enjoying the amount of long high balls he's expected to fight for, looks to be much happier when he gets the ball to his feet. Joelinton is not the type of player Brewcie thinks he is - and he doesn’t seem to be cottoning on at all.
jackyboy
Having watched the first few games I doubt Joelinton will never ever be as good as Rondon was. He just looks like a raw Andy Carroll to me and why on earth Carroll gets the reception he does when warming up or coming on is embarrassing, you'd think it was Messi coming on and not some failed injury prone centre forward from 10 years ago
KaKa
Was carrying a back injury. He'll be just fine. With Almiron and Saint-Maximin either side. He'll be much more dangerous.
