Dr.Spaceman
Aye, he's definitely not a no. 9 yep. a jon dahl tomasson for our age. JDT was a good player though. Would have been great alongside Shearer.

Yeah I always thought he was a good finisher, just wasn't cut out for Dalglish's system of playing four defensive midfielders across the park. Another horrible manager, and we seem to employ most of them at one time or another.
geordiedean
Aye, he's definitely not a no. 9, I think there's some talent there though and in the right setup he could be a useful player. Never worth £40m though What makes you think theres talent there please tell because I've seen nothing in this fella that I haven't seen in a lad that plays in the northern league
geordiedean
That chance he missed at the weekend was horrendous, he done well to make the space to get the shot off but I'm pretty sure that not once did he even glance up to see where the goal was. I know most forwards have the instinct and 'know where the goal is' but christ, it gets worse every time you want it. It looked harder to miss. Was absolutely embarrassing just like when he headed it clean out of play. The people on here making excuses for him are as embarrassing as that shot. The lad cant kick or head a ball properly hes honestly no better than lads operating at league 2 or non league level. Played against Rochdale yet was shown how to do it by 40yr old Aaron Wilbrahamn This transfer should be investigated as something is very very wrong with it
mrmojorisin75
look, he'd just finished a reasonable season playing the in the bundesliga man can we stop suggesting this is like when fergie signed that homeless kid or summit
TRon
I know it's not what the mongs want to hear, but in the first half he got in some good positions to score. That's an improvement even if he missed.
Just a propheteer
I wish people would stop spouting the 40m line when it's obvious there's no way we paid that for him or ever valued him as such.

Wilson
'Mongs' settle down man. People realise a lot of it's down to how he being used etc but there's still no excusing how bad he's been at times. I've never been a big fan but kept relatively quiet about him, but that miss on saturday, I just can't get my head round.
steve_69
His errors and poor finishing are magnified 100 times because he's missing the very few chances we/he creates. Because we basically create 3-4 chances per game and he's normally on the end of one or two of them, his misses are far more critical than they should be. A player can't play themselves back into form with only 2 opportunities per game. We need to create more fullstop. The alternative is to sign a 1 in 2 striker and we know that's not going happen. Dokko
So the club pay £40m for this lad in hope he turns a profit later down the line and he’s been such a failure they’re now looking at 45 year old Glen Murray to plug the goal void his selection creates. Brilliant bit of business by Ashley. It’s almost like Rafa knew what he was on about.
Mike
How does he head it backwards? https://twitter.com/BrutalBarton/status/1212448783235256320 What the fuck.
Wilson
I'd like to think he's trying to put it back across the goal for one of our other forward thinking players to knock it in, yeah.... I'd like to think that.

sh74
I don’t know why people are getting worked up about him. A. There’s no way we paid 40 million, 10 million more realistic. B. He’s not a striker, his goals record shows that. The club should have also bought a quality striker as well in the summer but we all know that’ll never happen. Mr Logic
He's getting no direction or advice either I'd guess. Imagine if Rafa was still here he'd be talking one to one with him for hours. Feet in the wrong position etc. Wouldn't be playing as an isolated striker either.
sh74
Rafa would have gradually introduced him into the team over a number of weeks instead of throwing him straight in and expecting him to get on with it. The prems a harder league than the Austrian and German leagues, the lads going to need time to adjust.
