Coffee_Johnny
Good words. It’s all all the blend @timeEd32 and he’s been an important ingredient in some of our best performances.

Surely ‘give him what he wants’ should be ‘give him what he deserves’. Depends what he’s after earning. It isn’t an infinite pot of cash

Coffee_Johnny
I love Big Joe. I think his time here may be done. Broke through to ‘noticeably good’ levels in the PL, probably not going to go beyond that. Hope I am wrong, but there’s a whiff of believing the (best) headlines and overplaying his hand. Be delighted if he stays. Wouldn’t bend over backwards, contractually, to keep him.

It is worth remembering that we bought him as a centre forward, and he’s on a PL centre forward’s wage - he isn’t badly remunerated at the moment. I believe we beat Chelsea (cup) with him on the pitch as well as Luton. I for one will not countenance him leaving, he’s nowhere near done. Honestly I’ll be devastated if he leaves. At the end of a season where he was finally recognised for Selecao we’re gonna’ say goodbye? No way. He runs through brick walls and then laughs at the wall, he dies for the shirt out there. Plus he looks cool as fuck in the retro gear, is Bruno’s best mate and is a wonderful guy.
Beth
He wants parity with Bruno, which is £160k a week, about double his current wage. Whether or not he's worth that is a matter of opinion. If we were to sell him in the summer we'd pretty much get what we paid for him.
M1tche
unless we're getting in and around the 50-60mil range we should be keeping him. He has the odd off game, but never really looks out of place in the game against the best teams when we play them. What he does in quite unique, if we want someone that also adds finesse, consistent passing and shooting, then you're talking Veira/Yaya Toure levels. Doctor Zaius
I really want him to stay. Probably one of my favourite players. I think we're going to miss him big time for the rest of the season. He's not worth as much as Bruno though. The club have to do what they can to keep wages in check. Hopefully theyll come to an agreement.
Aiston
Don't think anyone would pay £40m+ for him and he's worth far more to us than that. Should be doing what we can to keep him.

He doesn’t play the same role as Vieira / Yaya Toure. He’s a big unit who plays wide left or left sided attacking midfielder. We might get our money back if he was sold
TheBrownBottle
I love the bloke personally, but ultimately my emotional attachment is to NUFC. He’s in the ‘happy if he stays, shrug of shoulders if he goes (provided it’s for good money)’ category for me
NG32
Love him to stay, i think he would be a big miss for us and im not sure we could replace him as I think what he gives us he is pretty unique in the premier league.
TheBrownBottle
In all honesty, if we’re winning shitloads of trophies and are England’s best club side then I’ll start thinking about players being irreplaceable. We’re an upper mid table side at present - I’m confident that most of our players fit in the ‘replaceable’ camp.
Conjo
£40m would be a bargain. Very unique player (in a positive sense) we won't be able to replace. There is a theoretical possibility that we could improve on him, but that would require a change in our playing system. He is tailor made for the LCM spot the way we play. I still hold that he doesn’t look particularly good at LCM. Looks far better LW. Problem is that his output isn’t spectacular
AyeDubbleYoo
I love Joelinton but I don’t think top teams would be in for him. In terms of club he would probably need to take a step down, even if at higher wages. I really hope we do a deal anyway, of course. I think he has far better close control than for example Longstaff. But we need to be careful overpaying salaries because we get emotionally attached to players, quite often when you overpay, it's not that easy to move them on to other clubs who don't have an emotional attachment. He needs to be paid what he's worth, but also with the understanding that we might buy a better replacement which would then make him a squad player, albeit a very valuable one. I get what you're saying but I think we'd have to annihilate our budget in order to replace what Big Joe gives us. He's the most physical, most versatile and arguably the most tactically astute player in the squad. Plus he's 5-10 goals a season on top of everything else he gives us in terms of physicality. It's really important that we keep him imo. No one's gonna make a huge offer for him when his contract situation is vulnerable.

Yeah, I don’t think he’d be easy to replace - he’s a good footballer with some considerable strengths as a player. If we got £40m back though, then we’d surely consider it - it would be a serious boost to who we could bring in. I’d absolutely be happy to see him sign a new deal and stay with us - I love the fact that he’s gone from a figure of fun (and a genuinely contender for the worst Newcastle no.9 I’ve seen - and in terms of transfer cost, pound for pound he definitely is) to one of the first names on the team sheet and someone who I love watching play. He’s brave and 100% committed to everything; hard without being nasty; more talented than he appears (his close ball control is far better than he is credited with by many). He’s replaceable, but not easily so. If he goes, I’m happy to trust that the club will have already identified replacements (I’m sure they have lists for all positions / players).
