I still can't stop thinking about Big Joe's story. Who would've thought that red card by Ciaran Clark would've changed everything.

Delighted for him.

Him and Burn were 10/10. Everyone else was 9. Unbelievable work rate from him, covering for other players, tracking runs across the entire pitch, holding the ball up in difficult situations and winning those battles in the middle.

That midfield three has really settled into it's rhythm now and they should only get better over the rest of the season.

I don’t think he even got a yellow for that

If he did get a yellow I was in line for a $300 win from a $20 bet. I had Isak to score, Newcastle to win the cup and Joelinton to get a yellowcard. Thought Jo getting a card was a certainty.

BDB fully deserved MOTM, could have gone to many. However, it was incredible watching Joelinton boss the midfield. My MOTM.

There was a little moment in the first half I think where Virgil had fouled him and then had offered a handshake and Joe ignored the hand and pushed him away. It wasn’t aggressive but it was ‘handshakes at full time’ sort of thing, I’m here to take care of business first.

These are players that technically might not be the greatest.  But their character is at an elite level. They bring something that cannot be measured. An intangible quality that is difficult to replicate.

I said in BDBs thread - someone said he’s not a top 8 player. But he has been.  He’s played damn near every game.

Same with Big Joe. I think Joe can be improved on in many regards but he has something special and he showed it today.  He won everything from start to finish.

I don't think he gets enough credit for his technical ability really. Yes he can have days when it bounces off him, but on days like yesterday, his touch was sublime, like when he took a long ball down on his thigh before pivoting to lay the ball off to a teammate. Yes he can crash about the pitch causing carnage among the ranks, but he often comes out with the ball, evades a couple of tackles before sending one of our players away in space. Opposition players must absolutely dread facing him.

That tiny domino could conceivably be one of a number of things. The first thing that comes to mind is Wilson being a semi permanent crock and getting injured just before the start of the season, so we had to go out and sign Isak.

Tbh when Ciaran Clark got sent off against Norwich I remember being stood in the Gallowgate thinking "that's a shame but this really opens the door for Joelinton to become the best ball winning midfielder in the Premier League and win us a trophy with an effortlessly monstrous performance against the so-called best midfield in the league at Wembley"

It was just a fleeting thought mind.

A fair few wanting him to take a back seat in the squad after some patchy performances. But the thing is, when he's on it like yesterday we are a fucking fortress
