Callum Wilson set to be out for around 8 weeks with new hamstring injury (Howe)

Good to hear from Callum hope he gets sorted quickly, would it be that bad hanging onto him for another year? maybe a cheaper option than trying to buy a top class striker, as for Wood poor performance for us, whose at fault bearing in mind he seems to be scoring at forest.

Yeah he’s gone imo, might see a bit part appearance here and there but no way theyll give him another contract now, they’d be mad to.

 Have to feel for him like, this season's probably brought about not only the end of his Newcastle career, but brought into question his entire career (at least in the top flight). Best he can probably hope for is accepting a bit part role as a third choice or some sort of pay as you play for team at the bottom.

Why not the same here, pay as you play, then he has some sort of stability.

Tbf to him, despite his body giving up on him, he's never been anything but utterly professional since he's been here. He's stood up when it mattered.

Yeah he's a cracking player when he's fit. Which is never.

What’s sad is that he worked his bollocks off to get to the World Cup, he did. He worked his bollcoks off to get us CL. Then he’s basically been hurt ever since. I feel for him.

We really miss the mindsets of Wilson and Trippier, for different reasons I don’t think those mindsets have been there for either and we’ve suffered because of it. The type of players that set ambitious goals, back themselves and it rubs off on their teammates.

I hope at the very least he manages to get himself back in February and sign off his time at the club on a good note. He doesn’t deserve to whimper out like this.

Controversial take and easy to highlight with hindsight, could have kept Chris Wood and sold Callum for £17m straight after World Cup Qatar when his stock was high.

I like Callum but like so many of our players his reputation is in ruins by staying too long. We are such bad sellers.

thats some fucking hindsighting going on there, like.

Even though this setback is somewhat predictable, it's still not out of the question he can still bang in a few vital goals to get us into Europe in the last month or two of the season. Clutching at straws admittedly, but who knows.

I think we'd all agree the most humame thing to do with him it take him for one last run around Leazes Park then shoot him in the back of the head.

I think the run would probably do it !

Not sure why you’re determined to compare football to the real world?

Using his real world analogy surely getting injured on the job then being sacked would be a canny way to get sued?
