Wishful thinking. He genuinely thinks he’s saved our season and premier league status.

I think Maximan might not share that opinion once Willock heads back to Arsenal so the best players leaving might tell the true story.

All we're gonna hear for another 12 months.

"Newcastle finished respectably in 12th, whereabouts they perhaps should be"

"Steve Bruce did an amazing job, steered them away from relegation with covid19 an injury hit squad for most of the season"

Newcastle fans can't really expect more than that, can they?

I'll predict no takeover before the new season, and spam head still in the dugout ??

(((((( Forever deluded geordies ))))))

Credit where it's due, he's turned it around and we've finished strongly.

Like it or not, he's finished higher than Rafa did in his second season.

You on the wind up? Deserves fuck all credit whatsoever. The bottom three being horrendous, ASM getting fit again and Willock are why we're so far clear. He's had fuck all to do with it. He was wittering about finding moles, slagging lads off in interviews and shoulder barging players in the training ground a couple of months back.

As for finishing higher than Rafa, it's the exact same points but millions more spent.

Aye, only had £100m worth of players bought for him to achieve and Willock on Lon for half a season who is now valued at between £20m-£40m. Meanwhile Rafa achieved the same points total in his 2nd season and the club making a profit on player sales during his tenure.

This would be the perfect time for him to walk away tbh. Resign now having finished decently before it all goes to shit next season; he's got to know the collapse is coming after we have an inevitably shite transfer window, missing out on Willock and probably losing ASM and/or Almiron.

We said this last year. He's under no pressure at all and we'll comfortably stay up next season too, assuming all our best players don't leave, which they won't. No one's coming in for Wilson and no one will pay ASM's asking price.

Another identical season awaits.

Jones + willock and ASM saved our season.

Thr tactical difference in us is night and day.

Leeds got promoted and Villa stayed up by the skin of their teeth. A season later and they’ve both pissed on us. That little battle from 8th to 11th should have been the minimum for us but we were nowhere near. Aye we’ve finished the same as our first 3 seasons since we came back up but there should be progression after £100m plus spent on top of that, not standing still.

Think thats a bit optimistic, given ASM's comments wouldnt surprise me if someone came in for him, and the league has been abnormally shite this season.

13th and now 12th. I don’t like Bruce but that’s as good as anyone can do with that squad to be fair. Even more so with ASM and Wilson missing a third of the season each as well.

Aye. We don’t have a top 10 squad like, far from. Take ASM and Wilson out for 10/12 games each and it’s nowhere near a top 10 team

God forbid how leeds made the top 10...

Villa are similar. They have maybe 3-4 quality players, the rest are average.

Looking at the two squads, I don't think there's a 14 point difference in quality between us and Leeds who are in 9th, bar superior coaching.

However, we have finished this season strongly which is somewhat encouraging.

Yeah, football is played on paper as well.  No point in needing coaches or managers if it's just buy players and play them.
