Stottie
He got a partial let-off last week because the key turning point was the ludicrous penalty, but this week we had the same toothless final thirty minutes. We also conceded from set pieces, which is classic poor training. We scored a lot of set pieces in his first season, remember all the goals from defenders, which was to his credit and contrasted with Rafa, but they have long since dried up. If this sounds like clutching at straws to give him credit, yes it is, and even then he still comes out badly. He should be nowhere near the club. Was covered in another thread that this was made up by that insufferable Seancasey cunt on Twitter. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was true which says a lot about the bloated mess. Ben
This really looks like his last season at Sunderland 2 wins out of 13 and he was sacked in November, will Ashley and Charners pull the trigger ?

Why would he? He has sat back and not muttered a word whilst Ashley has allowed the team to be weaker than last season. We nearly sell out at home and did away, with no real discontent shown in the stands.
RUHRLYASLEEVESUP
To me, to me the big big decision that cost us was the erm penalty, against the big teams you can't give them away, & lets face it, what was it, no shots on target against a team that conceded 3 against a newly promoted team, anyway I'm not really into tactics, we gave the ball away too cheaply & you cant do that against the better teams at this level, we haven't done enough so we will go again & dust wasels doon. Ive not a Scooby if he said any of the above in the fat messes presser but im fairly sure it would of been a regurgitation of the above in some guise, god I hate he represents Newcastle. There aren't any "screeming jawdies" at our matches. The only time I've heard a collective complaint from them this season is when players take the knee before the kick off. We are a fucking embarrassment from top to bottom as a club, this manager epitomises us perfectly. So did Pardew and Kinnock for that matter.

Guest
3 years ago Bruce was en-route to steering Villa into the bottom half of the Championship. The two main forwards in that team have just been sold for £135m this summer, Villa are now a club capable of challenging for top 8-10 in the Premier League. Even if you forget his monumental failings in his time at Newcastle, the turnaround at Villa since getting rid of him says it all. From being close to a swap deal for Rhodes to Boro to a £100m player in 3 years.

Guest
Aye, Smith is probably just an average PL manager. If they upgraded they’d be a threat again as a club.

Leek
I really dont get the gameplan with the 5-2-1-2 or whatever it is. No midfield cause we've got Miggy who I dont even know where he plays, him and ASM just float about and cant keep up with the game as they got lost trying to track back and then getting back forward again. Hayden is the only useful one defensively but gets dragged around easily because hes got to do it all and Willock is a CAM not a CM, he trys but cant defend but also doesnt get any freedom to attack unless we actually keep a sustained attack. We cant press teams because if Hayden/Willock press then we're horribly exposed in midfield. The only thing I see is us do offensively is counter, hoof it to Wilson either in behind or for us to win a 2nd ball or win a set piece and try and maintain an attack from that. Ritchie at LB is tragic, can't keep switched on, cant get back quick enough once hes forward and can't win headers. When we've had 30 seconds of possession and realised we cant counter we can only pass it back between the our defenders because the set ups shit, we havent got any movement in midfield cause there only 2 of them so the only space and easy pass is at the back where the 3 CBs are who then get it and hoof it to Wilson. Guest
Possibly our strongest area is wingers, and we don’t play with them. Bruce himself signed Lewis, Fraser & ASM yet doesn’t play a system to suit.
Guest
I’d be going with: Woodman Manquillo Lewis Fernandez Schar Hayden Willock St-Maximin Fraser Almiron Wilson with the players available. If he’s going to play a back 3, it needs to mirror the system we had with Benitez and play a third CB rather than Fraser but stick with Almiron & ASM out wide. 5-3-2 doesn’t work with these players. Bad thing is, he did exactly the same when he first came in. He played 5-3-2 the first two games, we lost them both and by the third game we were back to the same formation as he inherited and we got some results (performances were still shite but it was an improvement). Yelevats
100% bang on ON, the profile of players doesn't fit the system he keeps trying to enforce onto them. A sign of being closed minded is to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Bruce obviously doesn't critically reflect due to his mentality of always having an excuse to blame. The fact its obvious he doesn't reflect and look inward is the most concerning thing & given its 3 years of the same it simply isn't going to change unfortunately. Kanji
We should be going back to the diamond formation and wide strikers that we used when Graeme Jones came in. We only abandoned it when Wilson got hurt and we had to change it up. We played that versus Everton and Southampton to great results IMO. 4-3-1-2 with split strikers. Woodman Manquillo Lascelles/Fede Schar Lewis Hayden Longstaff (as an 8) Willock (as an 8) Almiron (as a 10) Wilson (split striker) Maxi (split striker)
