Tell you what, I'll be comfortable with whatever happens come Sunday. If we do somehow manage a win and they start going on about how amazing Bruce is I'll just turn everything off and grit my teeth. cosmic
If Bruce stays, other than spoiling what will be a out of the world atmosphere, losing to Spurs won't not mean too much in bigger scheme of things. There are still 30 games to go and we finally have hope of a good January transfer window and a whole new Management structure in place including new coaching team. With current squad, we will not be relegated. Many of the teams in bottom half of table are also relegation candidates with limited funds to improve their team.. We don't need to outrun the bear, just faster than 3 other teams.

Nah, even if he's not gonna call from his sacking, I doubt even Shearer would push for him to be kept on longterm, as he'll see his failings. Ultimately, Shearer will want the best for the club to push on, especially under these new, ambitious owners, and will know they can and will do a lot better than Brucey. The Prophet
I think I'll be sitting it out to be fair. It'll be Saudi flags and tea towels outside the ground and a Steve Bruce led eyesore in it. Fuck that.
TRon
1 hour ago, Billy Pilgrim said: We sacked a manager and did a back of a packet fag calculation on putting tens of millions of pounds into an established shite manager who hadn’t managed at the top level for ages. We then fannied about not looking to replace him and sacked him far too late, and brought in Benitez, who didn’t have a plan to get us out of it but was good enough to stick around and try the next year. Mclaren was a knee jerk appointment. Even though it came far too late, we sacked him as a knee jerk without a plan. We got relegated even though we had a top quality manager come in. It is not even halfway through October. If we are sitting here mid November with Bruce, in the bottom 3 having been turned down by Graham potter, I give full permission to kick off. But we are way, way ahead of that and we have the luxury of taking maybe even a few weeks to find a manager who will not only stop us from going down, but hopefully kick us on to contending for Europe in the next 5 years. The next manager determines how much we can spend in January and on what. DOF probably too. Getting that right is absolutely pivotal to survival this year and kicking on for contending for something next year as on current form there aren’t three worse teams than us. Agree with a lot of what you wrote there but McLaren was not a knee jerk appointment any more than Kinnear, pardew or Bruce were. Ashley appoints managers specifically to take orders and not challenge his way of doing business. They were all very calculated appointments.

I’d argue all of them were knee jerk appointments, particularly the ones made because they were the last person to speak to either him or one of his cronies in a casino. The plan for McLaren was laughable. We’re going to bring in someone who hasn’t managed at the top level in years because I’ve been told he is a good coach. Then I’m gonna hand him a load of new players he didn’t ask for and see what happens. Oh wait let’s make him director too. Oh, we need to sack him. LionOfGosforth
There could be many reasons for the perceived lack of action in the past week. Could be legal, could be financial, could well be they've been knocked back by several candidates due to it being "too early" for more established people, too much risk etc I'm not saying this is the case but it's entirely possible that the consortium, in the days before the takeover was fully completed, had pre-conceived ideas that their financial clout would lead to a quick resolution to the managerial situation. It's not inconceivable that they've since come to realise that it's not quite as simple as they hoped it would be, and that finding the right manager and staff who would be willing to come in, with the right team, might take a bit longer than they initially assumed. It's also entirely possible that's bollocks and there's some legal stuff to sort and it's better to have the current setup remain until the right team is ready, to get through the next game or two. I hate Bruce and his gurning self-pitying mug as much as anyone and want him gone ASAP. Nobody really knows what's actually gone on, but we have to trust they're working their arses off behind the scenes to make the right choice and it'll happen soon. Nothing knee jerk about it, I'll bet someone made a killing there.
nufcjb
1000th game ok. Be fair Sky on Sunday. Show his win percentage in those 1000 games? not too much? Then show his win percentage in PL games only? Not looking good? Ok maybe just his overall record for PL games? Still not ok? Perhaps his win percentage as NUfC manager? Owh, he doesn't like to being compared to the Mighty Rafa eh? Ok. His win percentage for this season only as NUFC manager then? No? THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DON'T GIVE A HOOT ABOUT THIS CUNT'S 1000 GAMES!!! Edited October 14, 2021 by nufcjb
Tsunami
I can only think that they’re struggling to get a new man in, interim or otherwise. Bruce shouldn’t be anywhere the ground come Sunday. It’s all been a bit of a whirlwind and there’ll be god knows what to sort out so I can kind of understand but a statement of intent would be good. We’ve had sound bites but nowt else. Chicken Dancer
Will be interesting if there is anything to the fact it's been pushed back 4hrs from the usual time of 09:30. Would presume not. If this shithouse had anything about him, he'd have said to Staveley on Monday he knows he isn't the man for the job and will shake hands on a package to walk away. Unfortunately, he's made over £20m from sackings (could be wrong on this, but I've read it somewhere) during his 999 game managerial career, so that's out the window.
