I've got no time for agents whatsoever and I have no issue with the club playing hardball during the negotiation phase but not paying what has been agreed makes us look either dishonest or incompetent neither of which I want people to associate with NUFC now. It also supports the narrative that PIF are either losing interest or are going to take an age processing even basic day-to-day tasks, never mind huge projects like training grounds and stadiums. Agree, I have quite a few doubts already over how high up on their priorities we are, stuff like this doesn’t help. bobbydazzla
If the article is correct it’s just a system issue causing a delay, this shit happens all the time I just got paid 3 months late by a massive corporation because they’ve had issues with SAP4HANA system upgrade and ended up with a payment backlog But I don’t have the ear of journos so couldn’t go moaning to the press about it If NUFC are deliberately holding back payments, then that’s a different kettle of fish Edited 6 hours ago by bobbydazzla

gjohnson
Agents are the scum of the earth and shouldn't exist let alone be paid. This one is on the players for being too lazy read their own contracts. Given and Milner managed just fine without one and they are two of the longest serving players on record

Blind support or head in the sand ? As anything, it's nuanced, Ornstein may be the best journalist out there, but he's still a journalist, who have agendas and deadlines to write, and when we've seen people like Hope and Jacobs write articles for clicks and to stir shit I can see why people are untrusting to the media, even if I don't subscribe to it. To be honest them claims can be amplified for those journalists who are based in London who have links to the bigger clubs. Personally I think this is basically a non-story, Ornstein even mentions in the article its normal process for clubs to do this. So to be honest, I'm not sure why people are so emotional one way or another.

The College Dropout
People dislike agents because football clubs tell them to dislike them. If Harry Kane had a proper agent he wouldn’t have wasted a year or two of his prime at a non-ambitious Spurs. This is not a big deal I assume. The agents will get paid. Just PIF being slow which isn’t unusual for big businesses and governments. Other clubs do it too.
Whitley mag
Nowt to see here think Ornstein gets a bit to much credit for being this super journo, no better than SUPERTOON on here in my opinion. As a side note Caulkin really gets on my fucking tits these days, wasn’t so quick to criticise when his pal Staveley was feeding him info all the time. Caulkin’s grumpy old man schtick is really grating. He gets paid to watch Newcastle and he acts like he hates it. Grow up. And yeah he did get extra negative when AS and MG left, so did the true-faith lot. They used to be more balanced when we lost but now it’s one defeat and they blow the bloody doors off and start criticising PIF, Eddie etc and it started right after they left. Like they were normal and then went ultra bitter and petty because they had no more train rides with Mandy. Edited 4 hours ago by Joelinton7

First of all I think the system is flawed in the way that the players should pay the agents, not clubs. But I guess it’s part of the package anyway. The players are responsible for their own actions, and I think most benefit from a agent who handle all the off field stuff. So they get one. Lastly, we do not now if Given or Milner maximized their income in their playing career, either way it’s two examples. I would guess the majority of young footballers would benefit from a agent/advisor.

Who is going to educate these young sportsmen on business matters and make sure they know what they’re doing as they sign up to multi million pound contracts ? Is a teenager who is footballing sensation and has grown up in a favella in Brazil or somewhere equally as deprived, really equipped to negotiate and do business with experienced Directors at the worlds biggest football clubs? I’m not defending all agents, am sure some are vermin.
