In which case not much point still going on about it, especially when somehow they try to pin it on Staveley specfically.

I’ve always said everyone above Eddie shares the blame. Specifically Eales, Ashworth, and Staveley.

I don’t know why people get so defensive about her. Negative things are said about Keegan, Sir Bobby, Shearer, etc. It doesn’t diminish their importance to the club.

I think it's something to do with people seemingly trying to pin it on her specifically, and again personally I come back to the thing that she pushed through getting rid of Ashley, which is arguably one of the most important things to happen in the last twenty years of the club.

Ultimately, the club felt stronger and safer as a project with her and Mehrdad around. Some people make it sound like we're well rid of them.

PSR was a problem, but it was a problem solved and they are excellent problem solvers. It's not as though PSR was ever going to not be a big problem for us. They tried - and largely succeeded - in growing us out of the Ashley hole we were in, getting players in who give us a serious chance of earning money in the CL or selling them on for extremely substantial profits that can fund the club for years to come. Don't buy the players and you get no sales, no Europe, and no profile worthy of sponsorship.

The only real alternative was to go the luxury Brighton route, but that would've made the last 3 years, and probably the next several, a very different experience. Buy a horde of Ashbys and Mintehs, forget buying Isak from Sociedad, and if we do splash out on a Bruno or Botman, have them understand very clearly that we are a temporary stepping stone towards their real future.

All things considered I'm very happy we gambled.

PIF club al-Hilal bid £70m for Nunez

That certainly isn't fair market value if true. He's worth half of that.

In an open market transaction the fair market value is decided by the selling price. This is how markets work.

£10 million max with his goal scoring record compared to someone like Chris Wood

It feels pointless getting annoyed at decisions that gave us some of the most enjoyable seasons in years when regardless of if we could have managed it a bit better the real issue is the legacy of a decade of mismanagement by Ashley not growing the commercial side of the club at all leaving a mountain to climb for the new owners to please psr. Our commercial revenue was absolutely appalling for a club of our size.

I think it's fair to say that Darwin Nunez has a lot more to his game than Chris Wood.

i would bet an entire month's wage that the tone of the conversation would be completely different had she been a fat, bald bloke in a gilet.

Pinning the PSR thing on Amanda and Mehrdad solely is really odd behavior, it ignores the fact we had a CEO, CFO and other board members also present.

As far as I’m concerned the PSR punishments went from fines to points deductions rather quickly no? So that’s a significant and unforeseen retrade and change in circumstances.

Without those two we have none of what we are enjoying now. They should forever be held up in the highest regard within the city and amongst our fanbase.

Staveley did a lot of good things for us. That can't be argued. However her record in other areas is not exactly whiter than white with some debatable shady deals for her own benefit

The club took a calculated gamble on PSR and it paid off. We’ve dramatically improved the playing squad within the financial headroom available to us.

If you’re churlish and/or a complete spod you can nitpick about this deal here or that deal there, but realistically the club couldn’t have done much better.

Amazing to think that some people are saying we should gamble on PSR points deductions to get a squad where it needs to be, and some on here are having a go at her for being close to breaching PSR.

Because that's not how it works. The costs carry. It's not a 1 season issue. We've not spent much this season and if we don't sell well or suddenly get massive revenue, we'll not buy much next season either.

The football authorities are busy trying to distort and destroy the concept of an open market, though.
