Apparently he was involved in signing Hojlund from Sturm Graz for Atalanta. I suspect we're going to go the analytics route rather than just punt EPL players each window.

Analytics route and not over-paying for Prem players. That’s good.

Rasmus Hojlund. That’s bad

"I can reinvigorate our recruitment with a data led strategy"

"That's good!"

"It led us to sign Rasmus Hojlund"

"That's bad"

"But we sold him for a huge profit"

"That's good!"

"But....Rasmus Hojlund"

Hopefully this guy is here to add options and support for Eddie and not turn us into another Bournemouth, Brighton or Brentford.

I’d love for us to turn into a steroid version of those well run clubs that understand the value of buying and selling well. It’s the only way we’ll end up challenging for titles anytime soon.

Are people still wanting Eddie in control of every last thing at the football club?

Eddie's a wonderful asset to the club in various ways but he's just one guy. Anyone half sane knows he needs a structure around and above him for him - and the club - to succeed.

As one of the most vocal advocates of having some structure in place where the manager is provided with a list of targets I think your comment isn't fair.

Eddie and the work he has done both with the team and in the market has been second to none. He's not perfect and obviously won't be able to get everything right but his hit rate is much higher than those who are at clubs with a model I advocate.

Ultimately all of us need be flexible and trust each other a bit more, obviously one of Mitchell in particular bit flaws was he took an apparent adverserial approach which damaged any potential trust from the off.

He has been excellent, however there seems to be a growing contingent who view anyone new or any changes above him with suspicion. The list of transfer targets this summer and last show that we need to get a grip of the situation. This appointment seems to be a good start. Hopefully the manager agrees.

I see your point but id suggest you withhold an initial judgement until the window closes. As fans we love to complain about missing out on targets etc, but we'd be as annoyed if we didn't go in for these players in the first place.

I remember being very critical of the window where we got Tino Sandro etc but with the benefit of hindsight I'd argue it's our most successful one.

Wonder if Eddie was in on this. I ask because I'm watching one Suds talks has started out with "football is like a continuous release cycle" I imagine such language would make Eddie choke on his vomit

Think you're just projecting your own feelings through Eddie here. He loves this type of language. Just watch his high performance interview.

And there may be, just may be, other people who are also good at their jobs.
