What change are you expecting?

Sorry not been able to log on for a week.

Well in a couple of instances he has been in a system where it was he and another that worked collectively and the research into every aspect was crazy. Even to the point they heavily scouted managers (Southampton) just incase so transitions could be seamless. It wasn't a DoF working with just scouts and manager, there were multiple layers and getting messages through etc was far easier.

I can definitely see a set up with a 2 man system and an alternative loan team who are tied into another few elements such as training those who will be leaving but arent with the first team like they have done at a couple of other clubs (interestingly Chelsea always did this). This often makes giving them specific loans easier. Also if the similar systems are in place then the channels used for agents to communicate etc will become far better.

On all instances of people working with him the feedback has been excellent. I held a few talks that went nowhere but it was the straightest conversations i had other than with our former DoF.

So what went wrong at Rangers?

Nice quotes on Eddie wanting a DOF in pronto, amidst the usual high brass snails pace and silence appointing people.

This quote was a bit telling too

“I had a very good relationship with Dan Ashworth, a very good relationship with Richard Hughes at Bournemouth for many years, so we need the position filled but ideally with the right man, the man that can lead the club forward in many different ways and to a very successful era. So no, I'm fully supportive of the position."

Is Ross Wilson still expected to take up the DOF posiiton? I could swear I heard somewhere that another club might be in the picture.

Don't remember seeing another club linked but definitely saw some journo saying the Forest owner was very hopeful and going to try his best to get him to stay, paying him more. Journo likened it to the Morgan Gibbs White situation.

Could be why progress is slow, but the again thats also how we roll most of the time!

If he is not exactly climbing on his hands and knees to come here, so I'm not sure if he will be the right choice?

He’s not someone I’m massively excited about, seems to be a little bit of a journeyman. He’s very much a ‘trust the process’ appointment.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep on Forest keeping him and us having to look elsewhere, like towards Brentford’s DOF who is a Newcastle fan.

Was the year above me at school, Phil Giles. You'll sleep better knowing that.

Tbf like almost everything at our club, its hard to know exactly what the hell is going on behind the scenes.

Maybe he is and Marinakas is making it difficult or holding his family as collateral in a safe house somewhere? Maybe we haven't even made an approach yet lol.

All that said, wasn't it reported in late spring we interviewed Ayto and him or am I confusing that with Hopkins position and interviews?

Who's on your extensive list of DoF that you would be massively excited aboit? Apart from the bloke at Brentford who's name escapes you? 😂

I've absolutely no idea who'd fit but I do think having any DoF who's got an ego is asking for problems. We've the best manager in the country and need a DoF that fits with him, in tandem.

IMHO, obvs

I mean it’s not that deep, I doubt many people would be able to name DOF’s outside of the big names.

I only said I’m not full of confidence because he doesn’t seem to stay in any place very long. As I said though I’d bow to the clubs opinion on the matter. The Brentford guy peaks interest because he’s been there for a period of time and Brentford repeatedly get signings right.

I agree with @Stifler in the sense whomever we hire has to not only be someone wanting to be here for at least for the next 5-10 years but they will be here at least the next 5.

With someone like Giles you would hope as a fan would want the job for life.

We cant afford another stop gap. I think Eddie has big input this time and I think the pressure is on to get the right hire after the last couple of years.

Aye, I was only teasing Stif, lightly.

Given we've a great manager and I think, an unquestionably good record for spotting talent if not signing the cunts, we don't need an ego guy. We need someone similar to Ashworth again.

It's a, relatively, new role over here and it seems to me some of them think they're more important than the manager.

That's like citing The Mag as a source 😂

"Instead of accepting £10 Mill up front he accepted £6 Mill rising" based on what, was the author in the negotiations ??

"He didn't sell Morellos at his peak" well no, because the huns would have gone apoplectic, and they were trying to win games. We tried NOT to sell Isak at his peak either (yeah I understand the levels are massively different but the parallels aren't).

Always someone's fault, preferably someone not a "rangers man".
