Spurs or Man U. I just can’t see us beating the other 2 twats over two legs. One off game at Wembley. Anything can happen.

Arsenal have Brighton away and Man United in the FA Cup the week of the first leg. And then City at home before the second leg.

Liverpool far and away the worst option to me.

I won't change history, I wanted Howe to change the Bruno/Tonali dynamic weeks and weeks ago.

However, I've also seen loads of NUFC managers who didn't even attempt to rectify problems or even acknowledge that a problem existed in the first place.

I'd rather a thoughtful manager who made changes slowly and methodically than one who chopped and changed based on a few performances.

It's taken a while and it's been frustrating but I feel like finally we've got there and the manager deserves credit.

We'd beat them this time. Shame how strong the other remaining teams are, but we'll see how it plays out.

Feels like we could have a good chance against any of them if we turn up.

Not sure where else to put this. But I think something is happening with this team. I’m feeling the inklings of magic.

Fingers crossed I hope your right. Not getting ahead of myself just yet as a win against the worst performing away side in the league who somehow decided to rotate out the best players they have doesn't get me that magic feeling just yet.

We really have to address our away performances and form hopefully we make a start on that this weekend.

I think its been absolutely right to ask questions of the manager so far this season but people genuinely wanting him removed already given the wider picture and the fact he’s turned things round before are far too reactive imo.

Anyone who wants to get rid of Eddie Howe are complete idiots.  End of.

The situation hasn’t changed, he needs European football next season or he will be rightfully sacked.

7 points from the next 3 games will put us on 30 points at the half way point of the season, although all 3 games are winnable.

That will line us up for a similar points tally as last season, just without the Champions League fatigue and the injuries.

Nowt wrong with debate and insightful comment but it's the ones who want him peddled, crack on about how tactically poor he is, how he should set his team up, who's shit, how very easy it is, blah fucking blah. Then put their phone down and get back to work ordering paper clips. Dweebs

It feels more important the right Newcastle turns up than who we get in the draw right now. I'd bet on us beating anyone if we turn up and play like we have at times this season. Likewise if the other Newcastle turns up we don't stand a chance against any of them 😂. I don't want to get ahead of myself until we play our next away game but you could feel the confidence in the side last night. If we can produce a solid away performance this weekend that will hopefully get that monkey off the players backs and the confidence can snowball.

I had the same feeling after Chelsea, Arsenal and Forest a few weeks back so not convinced yet. Saturday is big though, win that and we set ourselves up for a really good second half of the season.

It is 100% correct to the say the situation hasn’t changed, he probably does need European Football and should be judged on that if he actually fails to deliver that rather than the weirdo projections some wanted to put on him the last few weeks speaking of likely midtable finishes when we are so clearly in a race which could see us end well above that and deep in a cup competition.

He should be given the chance to fail, if he actually does, not judged on the imposing projection of failure a fair few have been wanting to pin on him

I think I know what you mean. We're starting to open teams up with intricate passing moves around the final third, which we didn't see much of even during our top 4 season. Defensively we're a bit more dodgy than before, but Botman's return should help there.

Simple as that is it; just a binary thing? No scope at all for consideration of context? Say we miss out on goal difference, is that still that? Fail, you're out? What if we again don't invest in January (be it through our own incompetence or the rules)? Is it still on him if we narrowly miss out?

Howe should only go if it's absolutely clear that he's no longer suitable for the job. What that looks like isn't as black and white as being in or out of Europe.

You are a complete idiot.  Stay away from sensible football forums.  Have you tried to join RTG?

The only one not being sensible is you, mind.

Spitting your dummy out because he (rightly) says 2 games isn’t enough to get carried away over.

It is as simple as that.

If he fails to get us in to Europe for the second season running then I don’t see how the club would see him as still being suitable for the job, other than being a nice guy.

Unfortunately with the squad we have we are entirely reliant on the key players staying injury and suspension free. Isak, Gordon, Bruno and now Tonali are crucial to our form. Right now they all seem to be getting into their stride and playing some nice football.

We weren't amazing last night but there were moments where we passed it around and you could see the potential. Remember that little back and forth interchange between Bruno and Tonali that lead to a near post shot.

But form and confidence are brittle and you take out Isak for example and if he missed Villa or Man U, would we have much hope of going there and winning with Gordon or Osula up front instead? Don't think so. So I'm trying to be realistic and temper my expectations that while at times we are going to look great, we are still likely to be very inconsistent.

Plus we are likely going into the 3rd game in a week with the same line up minus Joelinton. Fatigue will set in over Xmas if we don't rotate them. But we saw what happens at Brentford when we rotate even just a couple. I'm glad he's starting to sub abit earlier but even last night as soon as that 3rd went in I'd have been hooking the likes of Isak immediately but he still waited until about 75mins.
