There are clubs that I wouldn’t expect us to rival in terms of performances like Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea but there is no reason why we shouldn’t be competing with Spurs, Man Utd and Villa.

The whole argument that someone has a more valuable squad or pay higher wages automatically means that our level is 8th is ridiculous, as teams that pay higher wages under achieve, or have European games that stretch their squad so they can’t compete to the level they want every week.

Does it mean that if any team that pays less wages than us finishes above us this season we have underachieved? What about if we finish 8th but Forest finish 7th and Man Utd 9th? Is that an underachievement?

Should we even be celebrating beating Brentford last night as we pay far more wages than them?

It is nonsense.

No it's nonsense you saying the manager needs sacked if he doesn't make Europe 2 seasons running, since that's actually above par.

Wage bills are a good indicator of where a club should be finishing. If you don't like that then try revenue since that affects the amount a club can spend on transfer fees. And we are streets behind Spurs and Man Utd on revenue.

Has anyone said he won’t be backed?

Might as well have really, quite an odd thing to be thinking about to me

Don’t think anyone has said that tbh, personally think they will back him if it’s at all possible as they always have done. I don’t think we will be willing to get ourselves into a similar position as last summer mind.

Morning to everyone who said he should be sacked after Brentford away

Again not to start another argument, but home wins against an awful Leicester side and a Brentford side with the worst away record in the league, aren’t definitive markers that we have a turned a corner.

Howe absolutely loves a bit of flanter with Puke. It's a mystery.

It’s probably light relief from having to decipher Ryder making the simplest of questions almost incomprehensible.

Agreed but there were also some predicting we’d lose both games and we haven’t. On the flip side I think Ipswich is a different test of our mettle to go away and win and against a side we should probably beat.

A lot of people seem to forget the cirumstances that led to Howe missing out on Europe last season. I don't obviously. :mung:

Two seasons without Europe for us might not even be a sackable offence, yet some people are suggesting it's a sackable offence for Howe when Newcastle were in the Championship 5 years ago. Very baffling to read.

Obviously we've got God at the helm now, but if we were looking a manager and Howe was available, I'd have him at us in a heartbeat.

There’s no chance of a manager change this season. Therefore there’s probably no chance of a change in the summer either, because the rest of our season will be positive.

I don’t expect us to win the league cup but we can only take it one round at a time.

I think some have made their mind up already and are Howe out whatever happens. I think he should get January and Botman back and see how he does rest of the season particularly with Tonali’s emergence. I don’t see a change now as that beneficial.

I don’t think January is going to make a difference, I don’t see us signing anyone.

The club need to help him out with a couple of signings, but they shouldn't souly be his picks, everyone needs to be in agreement.

Last thing we need is a couple of signings which don't work and potentially the next manager can't use. We have enough overpaid dross on the books strangling us, and Howes loyalty and judgement has played its part, without a doubt.

Not saying Mitchell is the answer, either. We just can't afford any mistakes or missteps due to psr. We may no be able to afford any steps at all.

We wouldn’t, the point being what you pay in wages doesn’t automatically transfer in to how good your squad is, when you could easily overpay on wages.

It nigh on always does unless the club is a complete basketcase, that's why it's so often used as a metric.

I don’t think turning corners and all that is very helpful. It’s not like we’re suddenly going to beat everyone.

Are we playing well recently? Yes. I’m happy with that and will enjoy it.

More positive is that the uptick isn't just an accident from persevering with the same thing. We've tweaked the midfield and from nowhere the set pieces have some variety.

Couple of loans would do if money is tight.

Shift miggy trips and Wilson we should be okay for the summer window.

We'd get 50p from the knackers yard for Wilson. There's not a club anywhere going to pay us a fee for him even if they could pay him

Either that or the fact that Howe has stated a couple of times that we won’t be spending big in January as we need to be careful because of PSR. Coupled with us having to sell to not break the limit last season.

No one’s buying Wilson and Miggy, I reckon 7 or 8 - maybe a tenner
