Shak
Don't really care about not bringing on subs personally. I'm all in on the FA Cup this year. More worrying for me is that we looked absolutely shite tonight against what was largely a backup Fulham team. A lot of blaming of fatigue for our away performances this year but after a two week break we still looked exactly as we have done all season. Delighted we're through of course but have come away from that feeling a bit flat.
Shearergol
Just got in. Assume from the posts we lost and Howe needs to go?
54
The thing I find quite funny about this whole "Howe doesn't use his subs" thing, is that during the first 12 games of the season, Howe made 4 or more subs in 9 games. 1 Sub = 1 time 3 Subs = 2 times 4 Subs = 2 times 5 Subs = 7 times It's clear Howe just doesn't like to put players on who he can't trust, which is fine

huss9
subs? nah, if we'd have conceded a goal, our arses would have dropped and fulham would have gone for the kill. well played Eddie.
midds
I'm all for constructive criticism when it's justified but to have a pop tonight after we've breezed into the 5th round with another clean sheet is bonkers like. Leading 2-0 away from home against another PL team is rarely iced and done until late on, plus they've had a fortnight off and would probably benefit from minutes in the legs. Sure some people just want to moan for the sake of it regardless of what happens

What even is the "Next Level" for Pep? Doing with a small budget I guess.

Areet Legga! Hope you're doing well. It's the more emotional posts about it I think are fair game for ribbing. Howe's in an unenviable position, imagine if he makes changes on 2-0 and we go on to lose, it's not unlikely either with the players available. I guess the counter argument would be that Pep doesn't need to manage fitness and fatigue to the same extent that Howe does, since he has an infinitely deep squad. Doesn't really matter if he runs players into the ground as he can switch them out when necessary.
Whitley mag
Credit where it’s due very solid performance, was never going to be fluent. Defence looked solid and thought that gap between midfield and defence wasn’t there tonight.

TheBrownBottle
Not sure he could do much more with the subs available in all honesty - though when we’ve got a squad back I’ll be interested to see if the last few months has changed his thinking. With a full squad, subs seemed to be made to a pre-planned sequence rather than reacting to the game unfolding in front of us I’ll happily back Howe on the Hall situation - he’s the manager, he sees the lad everyday. If he thinks he’s not good enough to play at the moment, then that’s the right call for me. The question mark arises over why he’s here and will he be here next season, but that’s not the same as questioning Howe bringing him on or not

Like I said earlier, fuck knows what Howe can do. We know this approach will win us the odd game, and then leave us knackered for the following 2/3 games. It's a shit cycle. 80
Surprisingly disappointing performance. When your goalie is a big candidate for man of the match in a win, there's a problem. No big issue with the subs though, apart from the Hall situation being weird. I expected and wanted us to put our best team tonight. I just thought the rest and prep would've delivered us more than spending most of the night penned in. Thank god Fulham were allergic to goals! Lush Vlad
Why was Dubravka a big candidate for MOTM? He made one good save, after he looked to be unsighted or wrong-footed. But people would have rightly been disappointed if that had gone in. As it wasn’t hit hard and not in the corner. Didn’t have much to do after that. Nobody played particularly well. But Dubs wasn’t any better or worse than most of them.

We got a lot more cute with our football at the end of the match, so hopefully it's boosted our confidence.
