Pata
Howe is young and he knows he'll be a top 1-3 English manager for at least the next 10-15 years. Think it would be riskier for his career if he actually took the English job now instead of staying. The core of the English squad would also be only better in the future, only Kane is older. I'm not really concerned at all that he would want to leave after last season, think there's like 10% chance at most that he goes now.

If he goes now, his next club job is a Palace, Brighton, Everton (I know he supports them like) but like you say, the England job is there in 10-15 years. Stay here, go to England afterwards, do that 6-8 years, finish off at his boyhood club Everton. Perfect.

What I can read out from his interviews is that he is hard working and likes the day to day work with the players. You have none of that as manager for England. I mean it's the ideal job for Brewcie. No day to day work, a dozen or so games a year. Can't understand why he hasn't had a mention. After all, they all reckoned he was a top class manager when he was shafting us for a fortune. Their whole job is to talk about football even when there's nothing to talk about. Actually have to give them credit for being able to spin out a rumour even longer than our transfer rumours thread

Ikon
Potter Good coach but he doesn’t have the mentality or personality to handle such a big job and the pressure and scrutiny that comes with it. Don’t even think he would want it. (Actually might take it but not so sure) Edited July 16 by Ikon

midds
The only possible way he goes to England is if the FA give him an ultimatum - 'take it now or we'll never ask you again' Highly, highly unlikely they'll do that or that he'll go. Can never say 100% but I'd be astonished, and canny disappointed, if he gave up what he's got here for the England role

The conveyor belt of footballing talent isn’t guaranteed at international level - Brazil, Italy, Germany, Holland etc are all particularly weak atm, yet if you said that ten years ago it would seem crackers. My point was that IMO he could easily wait say four years in which point he would've been with us for a very long time and possibly look for a new challenge. It's very likely he would still be one of the hottest English managers and the squad could actually only be stronger with only Kane probably done (Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Gordon, Palmer, Mainoo at their prime and even Rice would still only be 29). I'm certain he has the self confidence to think he's not a busted flush in a 4 to 8 year range and he still sees NUFC as unfinished business.

If Potter had still been at Chelsea, for example, nobody would really entertain the thought of him leaving them for England. At the very least it would be a major suprise if it happend. International management is a graveyard these days. It's rare now to see managers at the top of their game going into it.

Yep, definitely. I think Howe’s a smart bloke and won’t just take anything as an assumptive. I still think England appoints either Potter or Carsley, as the FA will baulk at the idea of paying Howe’s likely substantial release fee. But I don’t think it’s a given that he just turns the job down because he’s got unfinished business at Newcastle. He might have always dreamed of the England job. I mean, I wouldn’t swap NUFC for England, but that’s me.
