Yeah if he genuinely has no intention of leaving he would just make that clear , if he is interested in the job then he will do that thing that players and managers always do when they are interested in a move and leave the door open for it to happen, either way I think we will have a good idea tomorrow if he has any intention of leaving.

How does it look to rule yourself out before any actual  move ? Bit bigheaded?

He'll be tactful as ever when the press mention it and, imo, will only rule it out if there's an official approach.

I think you'd be perfect. Just don't make the mistake Sam made. We would have won it with you in charge.

Thank you Lee for the encouraging words. Sorry it didn’t work out for you at Forest. Let me know if you go some place else and if they need a manager ;)

He will obviously get asked about it though , be no harm in saying he is flattered to be linked to it but at this moment in his career it's not something he is looking to do. Would put an end to all the speculation.

Fair point.

The only worry I have is, Howe knows he’s arguably one bad run away from the sack. At which point the England job will be elsewhere. Young family more time at home and a shot at the World Cup. Could see the sense in it.

If he wanted more time with his family, he could have it now. He chooses to come in very early and leave late, it's not a job requirement. I'm sure if he announced he was "only" going to do 8am to 5pm every day, nobody would bat an eyelid. It's still double the shift Steve Bruce ever put in.

Leaving Newcastle isn't necessary in order to reduce his working hours.

"Im just concentrating on pre season at the moment" is not the correct answer today Edward

The correct answer is "no. fuck england"

Any idea when the presser is today?

1: Perfect opportunity to write off the talk and show his loyalty to his current club.

2: Not doing so will only intensify talk and imo prove that he’s willing to take the job if offered.

Normally EH would kill the talk straight away because he doesn’t want any distractions.

If he comes out today and effectively says England can get to fuck, his strength of support from within the fanbase goes from extremely strong to absolutely massive.

It'll go along these lines....

I'm fully committed to Newcastle and what we've got going on, but as an English man it's always going to be difficult to ignore the call. I'm not expecting anything, but would listen however it won't distract me from newcastle'

Guarantee he'll say nothing controversial, commital, or inflammatory to England or Newcastle

I’d be surprised and disappointed if he wasn’t more equivocal. We will find out shortly…

That kind of comment is more inflammatory than you think. Will open a canny big can of worms if summit like that is said tbh

He'll probably just say Gareth did a great job and he's flattered to be linked but he is fully focus on preparing for the new season with Newcastle and building for the future here. I can't see it being much more in depth than that.

Yeah I'd start preparing for the worst if that was the quote. I don't think it will be though.

I don't think he'll flatly say he won't accept an offer however, simply on the grounds it'd be out of place if they haven't made an offer - it would be shitting on whoever eventually gets the job. So he might not be as categorical as some would like. But I expect it will be clear enough reading between the lines.

My mum just popped by to take my stepson out for lunch.... she mentioned as she was leaving that Howe is taking the ingerlund job, getting announced this afternoon.  My arse nearly fell out.  Rushing her out the door so I can get online here and check things out.  She was obviously half listening to the radio and has put 2 and 2 together and got 5.  Parents can be so cruel sometimes.

TalkSPORT absolutely gagging for him to take it

And not because they actually want him to be England manager, they just want the chance to see NUFC suffer. No one can change my mind.

I don't think they're so much actively malicious, it's just everything they say or do is to drive engagement, and get clicks and calls.

Howe to England clearly does that.

You're probably not wrong. But I always feel these media establishments are ran by mgmt teams that had their formative years in the 80s/early 90sm supporting certain Red clubs so delight in the misfortune of 'little' clubs.

Absolutely this. Honking bias of Liverpool and Man Utd home cunties fans on the airwaves. The inbuilt self preservation mechanisms come out at every opportunity.

Disagree. Anyone to England drives clicks. Majority of the production team that create the shows for the presenters are Arsenal fans. Hence Pep, Howe, Ange have all been pushed yet never Arteta. NUFC are the biggest threat on the horizon and anything that can be done to destabilise us will be done. Carragher and Neville the same.
