Established us as a top 6 side.

Got us in the Champions league.

Two cup finals.

Develops every player put in front of him.

Plays fast aggressive football.

Broken tonnes of records.

Amazing wins vs PSG, Arsenal (like 5 times), Chelsea, Man United (at fucking old trafford), Spurs and more.

Incredible ambassador for the club.

And not signed a player in two fucking years.

Mattyboy: "Nah not having him". [emoji38] what an absolute weapon.

Doesn't matter what it looks like really because we haven't added a lot of first team players in that time and big players like Tripps, Burn and Schar got two years older and worse for it. Now look at it as a results game, what did we achieve during that great season? League Cup final and Champions League football, what way do we look so far this season?

We have added Tonali (A) to midfield replacing Longstaff, Hall (B) replacing Burn at left back, Livramento (C) replacing Trippier.

As well as Isak becoming World Class (A) and Gordon (B) becoming one of the best in his position, according to ratings by people on here.

Yet, our football on the pitch has regressed.

It doesn’t look better, so it is fair to say that we have regressed.

It isn’t a controversial statement.

It's not far to say though, because our main defence that season was Tripps Botman Schar and Burn, 3 have since aged two years more well into their 30s and one has been injured for most of this season, but we've still made the same achievements on the pitch getting to a final and pushing for Champions League football. You're also forgetting the likes of Wilson scored 18 goals that season and hasn't been available.

Had Howe brought a load of new faces in you might have a point but he hasn't.

I don’t think you’re using the term “regress” correctly. Are you arguing that we’ve reverted to the Bruce era of style, cause I’m sure you’re aware enough to know that’s bullshit.

To regress is to return to a former state, what you’re really arguing is that we have stagnated which has been explained by others more eloquent than me with the explanation of a lack of transfers.

Our two centrebacks are 32 and 33 and are both slow as fuck too. I doubt Howe is delighted with the squad he has.

Do you think our football looks as good this season compared to the 22/23 season?

I think you're looking at the 22/23 season through rose tinted specs because we finished 4th. Remember, we only did that really because other teams we'd expect to be above us finished below us. Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea.

And we played a very certain way, well 2 ways really. First half defensively solid, second half high press. We also had Burn at left back everyone got on the back of, Longstaff in midfield. To name a couple.

Now we have Hall and Tonali which have been huge upgrades and have us playing a different kind of football.

I get this season has been frustrating, bar that huge winning streak, but to say we've regressed massively just isn't true. Id like to see the side by side points totals for this stage of the season between now and then. Also more teams this year have performed at a higher level who are now dire tly competing with us who weren't then. Bournemouth, Brighton, Forest, Villa, Fulham maybe.

Your statement was way OTT.

We played fantastic football during the 2022/23 season, our press and intensity in play was up there with any team in the league, as well as the interchange between Joelinton and Willock down the left, and the link up play with Bruno, Almiron and Trippier down the right.

We don’t play to that standard anymore, not anywhere near.

We'd drawn more and lost less then compared to this year, scored 1 more and conceded a lot less. We had an awful start this season and we've had a bad dip, that's undeniable and it's annoying. But you don't get to say we've regressed massively when we absolutely haven't. It's just hyperbole.

I don’t think we have at all, I will say some of our performances haven’t been as good but we’ve still ended up with a result. Whilst some have been better and we’ve been beaten. Swings and roundabouts. I don’t think we’ve dipped at all. 22/23 gets more of rose tinted as it was highly unexpected riding the crest of the wave. Let’s see how this pans out after Sunday.

Don’t take this the wrong way but do you follow us exclusively on ceefax? Because I cannot believe anyone who watches us thinks our football is at the level of 2022/23.

It isn't controversial, but relentlessly blaming the manager just completely lacks nuance. You're ignoring literally every other factor that can affect the performances of a football team.

Our brand of football is currently on par with Ten Hag at Man Utd, there is no real structure to what we do at all.

Shut your simple shite you cheeky fuck. I can't believe anyone watches us and pisses their pants like a toddler because they can't see the grey areas in football.

We did win a lot towards the end of last season. 67 points will be difficult, so I expect that +7 difference to drop a bit. We also had CL games and an injury crisis for about half the season or more, with Tonali suspended through most of the season aswell. It's going to take some work to get this season to be as (or more) impressive than the last one, considering the circumstances. We can't expect every season to be better than the last one though, it rarely ever works like that.

Don't walk it back to a broad statement like you weren't outright saying that you blame Howe let alone just implying it.

Amazing the shite people are coming out with as we approach our second final under Howe. Even if you're not his biggest fan it's hardly the right time to have this debate is it?
