Have done many times here and i also remember 4 years ago, things were abysmal. But now it isnt about 4 years ago, its about can this manager take us to another level and i dont think he can. Eddie's job on the field has been fantastic. Certain actions have been for the betterment of the Howe family and not NUFC. There is also a number of judgments i think he has gotten extremely wrong and his structure doesnt fit ours behind the scenes. I also think he struggles in a number of ways once at the level where admittedly he has taken us to.

If you mean a title challenge, I'm afraid there isn't a manager out there who can. It's not available to us. If you mean regularly qualifying for the CL, I'd still back him over any other manager out there, he's a great fit for us.
duo
The manager isn't holding us back it is PSR - we cannot afford to pay the wages for the better players. It is as simple as that - Eddie has actually worked miracles to get us as far as he has with the squad we have got.
The College Dropout
Biggest thing holding us back is the acumen of our owners and their care towards the club

If you mean regularly qualifying for the CL, I'd still back him over any other manager out there, he's a great fit for us. To me the next level is us being able to be going into the season confident we can be top 3 -4 every year and not thinking top 7 is where our realism is. The step after that is the title challenge. I wholly dispute if it is available too. Our current model means it isnt and thats where i say i thin Eddie's structure and beliefs doesn't fit ours and where we want to be. As evidence, we cant have agents ring up and get his nephew nor can we have infighting about players that aren't up to the level i.e DCL or Lloyd Kelly. If we change the structure and EH is the coach with input only to signings i think we can reach that in 2 - 3 years with the new team we are bringing in, however i dont think that will ever happen and thats why the infamous Paul Mitchell rant came from when he said we were being run amateurish. There is plenty of scope to up our revenue to crazy levels but it will take time, as Staveley said when she came in, its evolution and not revolution and everyone has to buy into that. I bang on about it all the time but when we chose to stay at home rather than train in the San Siro, our Champions League return, that should have been the moment the project always took precedent over the manager. That set us back and spending 45m on an unproven, injury prone english player is another example where we culd have gone for another Bruno or Sandro and pushed the first team on and in doing such growing the squad. Finally i dont think we can improve and grow whilst we don't rotate correctly and get players the minutes, we are chasing our own tail and wondering why

LionOfGosforth
90+ votes to 3 and still apparently there's a debate to be had on whether he should keep his job. You want to question some of his decisions, his tactical setups not always working, his reactive subs, i'm there with you. You want to say there's an argument for him to lose his job because of a poor third of a season with a thousand factors and reasons why, after what he's given us, I think you want your head examined. The Prophet
The angst at the last two performances is pretty understandable, we've been bobbins. It's the lack of support from certain sections of the fanbase that I find it hard to get my head around. These coaches and players have overachieved for three and a half years and dug us out of some brutal spots, delivering survival, European qualification and best of all a trophy. They deserve our unwavering support and patience when things don't go quite right for a spell of games. Yet is seems between the perpetual moaners, the entitled groaners, the chronically worried, the gasping to be right, those who openly want Howe binned and those would peddle him but don't have the cojones to say it out loud, there are decent sections of the fanbase that don't actually enjoy the support part of the fan experience. elbee909
I'm curious whom the sackers would want appointed, and why they think Howe can't evolve and improve. The reasons I've seen seems more like conjecture rather than fact-based for the most part.

Yes but much like last time there is a considerable drop off in the league, rotation is poor and we are picking up knocks. Our inability to move between midweek to weekend action at a consistently high level is very evident. Rotation and keeping a good number of minutes under the belts is key and this is adding to inconsistency as we only bring players in when its needed. We look like a team with a set first 11 who train together in that way everyday and then when somebody comes in it looks disjointed. Champions League isnt just about how you perform in it, its how you use manage and navigate the issues it causes and last time we got it badly wrong. You can blame injuries but once again we played Gordon whilst injured and it got worse. Mistakes are fine if you learn from them and i dont think we have

The chairman will work to find the right DoF, the DoF will work within the structure hes told to or try and work to change it behind the scenes. Hence why Eales brought in Mitchell who he had worked with before. Eales has British and American experience so seemed a sensible choice. We are owned by a nation state with far bigger worries than NUFC so they will need the right men to make the right moves. They had it right with Ashworth and wrong with the Eales / Mitchell combo, now its time to trust the next ones. Id rather have slightly distant owners who supply finances and trust their management team than ones who are overbearing and take money out of the club
