Appreciate the insight, just wanted to highlight that he's not "potentially a brilliant appointment". He's been here for 4 years, and is already a brilliant appointment for us.

It's a copy and paste from a post immediately after Howe arrived.

Iand the match day threads ARE an embarrassment. They always are. They’re worse than Twitter.

Its a live match thread and emotions are high. Look elsewhere if you want something with higher standards.

I'm a very sensible person, a pretty measured fan, not prone to much in the way of kneejerk reactions. That said...for the first time...

I'm starting to think it might be time to make a change with Eddie, and it's because his players have decided with their play that it might be time to make a change.

The problem I have with Howe on recruitment is, we knew Elanga was stupidly overpriced and not what we needed. We knew Ramsey had injury problems and not the creative midfielder we were so lacking. We knew we were needing to have backup for fullbacks. And we knew we needed a long term goalkeeping solution. We might've sold Isak for 125m, but we've spunked double that on players who are either bang-average (Elanga, Ramsey, Ramsdale), don't fit our system (Woltemade), or don't have long term resale value or peak performance (Wissa).

So many other clubs this summer have shown that much better players could be bought for much, MUCH less money. So the only thing Howe could rely on is knowing exactly how to use these players he's wanted for so long. And that just isn't the case. We're clueless, we're toothless, we lack intensity and tactical understanding, and we're mentally weak. You can't spend that much money on players you want and regress this quickly and not have criticism come your way.

I'm not 'Howe Out', but as many have said, he needs to do a deeper rethink than he is letting on.

I don’t think we knew anything of the sort TBH. People are just ultra negative about most of our signings and have mostly been proven completely wrong. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

As long as we are in the cups this season he should keep his job. Long term I do have concerns mind.

I think my concerns are more short term because it’s so hard to reinvent a team mid-season with so many games and little training time.

Long term I’m sure he will sort it out, question is if we’ll get rid of him before he gets the chance.

The problem is that we've signed players to fit a strategy we no longer play.

I don’t think getting rid of him is remotely in the thoughts of anyone at the club.

It’s already a long term issue mind (the away form).

What has happened to our style of play where we swamp teams and put them under pressure, I understand we have more games this season but our squad is more than capable, its just so shite to watch.

I hope/think you’re right, just saying if we do get rid of him because of short term results it would be a mistake.

a few on here would use up all their subs after 14 minutes if they had their way. Patience of a toddler.

But an 80 year old Buddhist monk's patience would be tested by today, and some of the other away performances we've shat out.

I guess the options are: it's instructional (to reduce fatigue)/it's because we're playing with a 6ft 7 striker who isn't as mobile as Isak/some of our players are going through the motions.

Possibly all of the above.

Does anyone know what the club wants anymore?

If you are Hopkinson et al, you probably keep Howe regardless for many months to come regardless of results because he is the guy that delivered before and you don’t want your name associated with the man that sacked him. But if club wanted UCL, then surely questions is asked? But then like first point, who the fuck knows what the club vision is? Just being a prem club could be Saudis aim.
