His position shouldn't be in question and we're still at that stage of the season where a few wins will push us right up the league. But there are some issues which stretch back several years. The shape of the midfield isn't right, and while we've long since relinquished our headlong press we now don't have the attack to excel in transition but our possession play if anything seems to get worse and worse.

I've no idea how he turns this around if I'm honest. The team seem to have completely lost their identity.

The midfield has gone to pot, the front three is abject. One thing we always used to do under Howe was create chances, yet once we got behind that's it, just cannot break teams down.

We won't have enough time on the training ground to implement much else, even with Wissa back fit.

maybe he should give Emery a call and ask how he did/does it.

So if we nailed the basics we'd be ok?

We're only four points of fifth Defending set pieces and game management alone probably see us jump into the European places.

Obviously there's more to it than that, but in spite of the systemic issues, sorting the little things would go a long way to seeing us improve.

I think the players aren’t doing him many favours,

not anywhere near the downed tools stage just some of the things they struggle to execute in game. Classic example today was about 20 minutes in Gordon is in acres and yet elanga plays the ball to Woltemade who then tried to play a return to Elanga. Exactly like the first half against Marseille when players struggle to play a ball through and if they’d have done so we’d have been in on goal a fair few times. Similarly you can’t legislate for your centre forward scoring that OG.

The cards we have in the deck don’t give me lots of hope (save for Wissa). We have too many games for our most important players to get much of a rest and I’m not sure we’ll do much more than splutter through the league campaign as a consequence.

wish our wide forwards were narrower, other than that don’t see a lot you can do with the midfield beyond personnel changes at the moment.

A turnaround in consistency likely requires someone to go on a real hot streak of form to paper over some cracks whilst they are worked on. Last year we had Tonali and Isak pretty much unplayable for a spell. Is there a double act capable of this in 25/26?

Schar coming in for Burn whilst he recovers may provide a little more in setting up play.

Loads are saying it but we need to get Wissa and Wolte in the team together which will require a change up somewhere

Tino - Tonali - Botman - Gordon - that’s 4 players who worry me with possibly their head being elsewhere - add Osula who could be moving - Schar thinking he might be near the end
