Every man and his dog have played Liverpool and and made it a tough game for them even beating them on occasions. They're bang out of form and we rock up and let them score four after leading. And barely threatening there goal second half.

I’m surprised you think we played well throughout, mind. I don’t think we did much right after 35 minutes at all.

We were basically poor after 1-0 - conceded 4 goals that in my view were all soft as anything - a pretty good summary of our away form at least

The fact we've had Champions League football, well European at all is a near on miracle.

PSR or whatever name they want to call the protection racket, means we should never get it in reality.

For all his faults, Eddie has done amazing to get us where we are, that shouldnt be forgotten. Eddie and the rest of League are always fighting against teams in an elevated position. Until PSR goes it'll never be fair.

Until then it needs special managers to achieve CL, Emery and Howe are exactly that, special, but they can't keep on fighting a Rourke's Drift or Teutoburg Forest each season, not when the scummy six can keep dropping more money every year.

It’s not a near on miracle atall. Villa are just about to do CL 2 seasons out of the 3 and had Europe then other two of the last 4. Forest weren’t that far away. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a good achievement, but we’re the biggest spenders after the ‘big 6’, with 2 or 3 of them collapsing in recent times. It’s not a miracle.

It did work. Unless you're being deliberately obtuse or have an agenda, you should be able to be honest and separate the merits and success of a setup from individual errors within it.

I didn't realise so many people expected us to win at Anfield.

Sunderland and Leeds drew there with a low block off the ball and hitting in the counter attack. Something we nearly beat PSG with on Wednesday and had the players to do yesterday. I’d have given it a fairly decent chance tbh. Certainly not a capitulation and the shagging we got.

Christ that’s pretty damning. I feel like my entire life we’ve been shite away from home.

We have.

Didn't we once go 29 games without a win in London?

It absolutely is. People have extremely short memories.

We drew there in covid and should have won. Yesterday was a mess. Penning them in for 25-30 minutes then collapsing isn’t a good performance. A game lasts 90 minutes. We were blowing out our arse after the initial phase.

I didn't. I said before the game I was dreading Ekitike scoring, in the end it was worse than I could have imagined. He didn't just score, he tore us apart.

Not sure anyone did? Its the manner, the same old away collapse. I know there were some mistakes by us, but its not the first time we have done individual mistakes either.

To be fair, I’m talking to someone who has openly said nothing would change their viewpoint on this subject so it shouldn’t be too surprising for them to double down even in the most ridiculous of circumstances.

Howay  You’re really saying the subs coming on at 3-1 down means if they came on at 2-1, the outcome would have been exactly the same? In the same breath as telling me to ignore xG because we hit the post.

Classic case of the scoreline setting narratives I reckon. I remember this match well (the one I've seen put forward as a better performance/set up than last night) and it was classic Pardew: we were shite.

I'm not bothered about playing shite like. It's about results.

The players we have brought in have arguably fucked us. We were in desperate need of a refresh and either

A. The players can't fit into the system he's trying to play

B. They're not good enough.

Imo, Elanga aside who's shown very little, it's more A than B.

Either way, the buck largely stops with him and he needs to fix it. Else it's only going to end one way. I think the tactical change, from an intense pressing side to whatever we are supposed to be now hasn't worked. There's too much space behind the lines, the wingers don't get close enough to the forwards, the midfield looks lost and we don't move the ball quick enough to break teams down.

Id still back him to fix it given time, particularly because the replacement options don't fill me with confidence. He's a hardworking manager and I think he should be given time. You don't want to end up like Spurs, appointment manager after manager that can't win enough games. Managers might suit teams like Brentford where the pressure isn't on, it's not the case here. Having said that, it can't go on like this away from home forever.

If we'd got absolutely battered from start to finish and somehow come away with an undeserved points, you wouldn't be bothered?

You should be. Teams that play shite on a regular basis tend to get relegated.

Standards are slipping Rod. Am I going to have to step in and do your job for you ?

A little harsh.  People have there own circumstances and their may be things going on in they're lives your not aware of.  Give him some time and he'll get their.

Good point, in some circumstances there standards may have slipped for good reason.

This season man.

It’s proper twisting my melon.

I feel like Eddie’s got two in my stink and one in my pink.

In the grand scheme of things life is good, but right now at this very moment it feels a bit painful and unsatisfying.
