Woltemade is just not a midfielder and playing him against Man City is just hanging him out to dry and completely giving up the midfield with no fight at all.

I mean surely there's such a thing as being physically tired?

No doubt, but tired after 30 minutes of a football game where you've trained your entire life to play in ?

Its a difficult one for me to get on board with

Totally agreed. What's confusing is that Osula doesn't need to start, especially not as striker. If you want to rest Gordon (which seems apparent), then surely this is the game to move Nick back up front?

These argument would a lot more water if we were flying until the fixture pile-up.  We’ve looked poor for quite some time - and we spent a lot of money on bolstering the squad in the summer.

Playing near full strength teams in the early rounds of the league cup and fa cup as a champions league team is ridiculous. It’s the perfect stage to blood youngsters

Maybe it's the ManU game they've trained their entire lives for? Maybe the Barcelona game in three days? Or maybe it's Chelsea after that? Or Barcelona again after that? Or perhaps the derby after that? Or the ~45 games already this season? This is the one game of their lives?

Majorly disappointed me.  This was the biggest game of the season for me.  And we started well but then quickly turned really poor.

There’s just too many holes is this squad - the amount of sumner spend really hurt us

Ramsdale - Elanga - Wissa - Woltermade are not the answers

Burn had to play LB - shouldn’t happen

Willock is not good enough - J Murphy not good enough

That’s on top of missing Bruno - Miley - Ramsey which is unfortunate

I really hope him and Wilson are ruthless come the summer

We have to rebuild this squad - carry too many players imo

Bournemouth fans have said he’s ruthless - we need a Keegan style ruthlessness- let’s see if he’s got it.

Not bothered regarding tonight. City are a good side and often beat us even when we play well.

We should have gotten out of the league cup and FA cup months ago. We don't have the squad for Champions League and two domestic cups.

I hope we bounce back for Barca.

We will have to agree to disagree, my opinion is if we can't raise the stamina levels "at home under the lights etc etc etc" with the chance of a 1/4 final of the FA cup at stake with diminishing chances of getting back into Europe as "were tired" what's the absolute point ?

Its an odd hill to die on imo

There's no hill, it's just an opinion.

It's Man City, all the under the lights stuff has merit but it's not a guarantee, we played on Wednesday with 10 men, won, and we've just played one of the best teams there is 3 days later in a run where we've been playing every 3 days for months now.

Sometimes I wonder what people expect, even without the fatigue, even without us not being the finished article, we're not on Man City's level. Punching above our weight being the expectation is not for me personally.

Agreed - he played a full strength side at home to Bradford and then complains about fixture pile-ups.  No lessons learned from last time out - and if that lesson can’t be learned, then I trust the ownership is happy that we need to avoid European football to have a good season.

The summer window really was awful, hopefully lessons learned ahead of this coming window.

Steady on now. Seems like you’re criticising a certain somebody.

I’m sure they said he keeps players too long?

Either way - please be ruthless Eddie - carry too much dead wood

Yes that's agreed, I can't get on board with being tired after 30 mins by any metric, that's my opinion

We've played more games and travelled further than any team in Europe this season, what is that 47 games now? 19 since January 1st and with a relatively small squad of any quality and carrying injuries to key players, you can't dismiss the fatigue.

I think if we'd got an easier draw, we win and by the time the quarter-final rolls around, we're only looking at domestic matches and maybe we go hell for leather for the cup.

For the first time that I can recall, it really felt like we had one eye on the next game here. He clearly picked a side he thought could trouble the opposition enough to make the breakthrough - which we did - it was always gonna be a case of, would that be enough.

The full-back subs were clearly premeditated; give Trippier a rest after an hour and then fine Tino some minutes before the end. By that logic you can probably extend that to all of the other subs and so the focus was never 100% on this game.

So to go back to my original point; against a lesser team we might just get away with that approach. Annoyingly Man City were brilliant once their tails were up and blew us away.

I dont think we bolstered the squad last summer. We got what we could with what happened.  If we got what we planned we probably would have been better of. It'll takes a couple more years to really have a squad the likes of city.  Up and downs. At least its better than going down. Keep the faith 🙏

That’s the fifth time this calendar year we’ve conceded three goals in a home match.  We even conceded two to Carrier Bag.

Go on then, I’ll do the comparison - that’s more than Pardew managed in a full season and the equal of what Bruce managed in a full season.

The team will be tired from fixture congestion, no doubt about that - but there’s plenty of other issues going on.

I thought the same, apparently he is ruthless, given what he’s done for us I’m happy for him to be given the chance.

It was a different world I know - But Keegan didn’t give a shit, he changed anything for better - Eddie I think overall is a better technical manager, just needs that ruthlessness.
