The second time the were missing 4 of their back 5. Let’s be honest look at the season there having, we say there doing alright and over achieved. There’s above us, yes we’ve had a load of games more but the summers work has fucked us. Look at the teams we have beaten this season including the performances in CL. Fucking shit we’ve dropped points to these over both games but the increase in wanting him out isn’t based on this game alone where we have seen a massive increase in the poll, that’s bed wetting mate. He could have shaped it all different and didn't. He genuinely thought it's ok still having Murphy, Trippier, Pope, Burn and that attack would work. We are fucking terrible to watch, no cohesion at all in our play and just overly relies on being fast and breaking through while being shit at it most the time. Also doesn't know when to sit and soak up pressure or to keep it fucking simple. I loved the style of play he brought in and now none of it is there, we are pretty shit at pressing, suicidal man marking that barely works, no calm build up play other than side to side, set pieces worse than ever. The list goes on and im honestly not sure he knows how to sort it. Yes been different in Champs league, hardly convincing in fa cup or league cup. Needs a refresh with good scouting, evolving the play and tactics and not just spunking a load of money on someone to just be fast or athletic. Actual technical players as that would help Tonali/Ramsey/Hall most. Must be so frustrating for them playing balls to our 3 in front that run it out of play, can't pass a ball or no skill to do things differently Come on then lad,Give me the teams and the games and comps they been in this season plus injuries

AyeDubbleYoo
The main reason I wanted to win was to avoid this reaction TBH. The derby doesn’t mean much more to me than a normal game so it’s never likely to impact my thinking that much, despite being poor.

None have looked convincing and then he signed 3 attackers that he barely trusts in Wissa, Woltemade and Elanga. The whole setup doesn't work either, instead of adjusting out of a 4321 he throws Wolte as a centre mid. Make it make sense, stubborn about his formation and style. Have you noticed how our players seem to be constantly under pressure when receive the ball, that's shape and movement and instructions being given to players like Elanga/Barnes to be static and up and down rather than more fluid play. It's a rigid, boring and ineffective system and often leaves centre of pitch exposed or where we push high marking, lose ball and other team have achres behind our midfield and all the width they want. Howes style just doesn't work regularly enough and that's for him to reflect on and sort

Everyone keeps mentioning the money spent and we should have improved? We lost a top 5 in the world striker and his replacements knee exploded before he even kicked a ball for us. We've essentially played a season without a proper striker. That’s the issue though. Good , well led teams would have exploited that especially being 1-0 up at half time. We did what we have done so many times this season; made predictable changes, didn’t react to the way the game changed and bottled out of so many challenges. Keggy_Keagal
Ignore that it was against Sunderland we've been in a position to make up lost ground on our rivals at home against an understrength opposition and absolutely fucked it. Not for the first time this season either. People have a right to be fucked off with the team and the manager. Then add the fact that it was derby into it and there's going to be a very reactive supporter base. When have we over performed this season ? Psg ? Villa ? The Barcelona draw ? Apart from that it's been very much half a step forward two steps back .

It's not my job to source and appoint a replacement. There's been too many performances like today's over the course of this season and he hasn't got the first idea what to do about it. That much is clearly evident. That's his team today. Every one of those starters other than Joelinton were his signings. That's his tactics. That's his abomination of a half time team talk. It's on him. To say he's the least of our worries is ridiculous. Edited March 22 by Wallsendmag
