Eddie has taken a very small team to the top half of the PL table and us from relegation fodder to the CL + one domestic cup.
Liverpool are trying to compete with the elite teams in Europe. If you're their Chief Exec, I don't think you take a risk on a manager who has never managed at their level, hasn't won leagues elsewhere, hasn't competed regularly in the CL and hasn't proven he can attract the best players in the world. They're literally going to be picking from the top 4-5 best managers in the world not taking a risk on someone who MIGHT be good enough. I might be wrong but I don't see him being on their radar.

What do you think Arne Slot was?

Too many members in here just settling for mediocrity and watching the club slowly go back to the way it was before the Saudis took over the club.

Just accepting losses to dross home and away, accepting piss poor football and terrible man management of assets at the club,

All because he won us a cup.

Imagine if city just went to the first manager that got champions league and a cup victory that'll do we cannot do any better.

Woah, woah, woah. Hang on a second there

How short are some memories on here?

If you arrived home early from work and Eddie Howe had your lass bent over the kitchen bench and was scuttling her from behind with a can of your best beer in one hand and as you walked in on the scene he looked you dead in the eye without breaking rhythm and said “I’ve ordered an Uber Eats on your account because I’ll be proper hungry when I’ve finished this” you’d give him a round of applause wouldn’t you

Find it mental how many people want to downplay what he has achieved here mind. We have been bad this season, but up to this he has done an incredible job.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to be delighted with what he's achieved for the last few years while also being concerned about how the next couple might pan out if we don't see shoots of improvement over the remaining fixtures.

That's kinda weird.

It will just be a grave mistake if we were to get rid of him.  Why wouldn't we let the best manager we have ever had a chance to rectify a poor campaign? Just why not.

There is no guarantee that a replacement is any better or more capable. And what makes you think PIF are interested enough to find the best guy now?

Spurs have never recovered from sacking Poch. Spurs fans would kill to have him back right now.

Careful what you wish for and all that yada yada.

He would never get the Liverpool or Arsenal jobs, what a strange thing to even try and put forward.  [emoji38]

He’ll most likely get the Everton job whenever Moyes finishes up there. Still a big club tbf.

Yep. And he’d likely do very well.

Does seem a bit odd this review in the summer thing, surely you either stick with him or don't.

Unless it's on Eddie's side where he's had enough.

Dunno why it keeps getting ignored that Arteta and Slot's CVs were this when they went to Arsenal and Liverpool:

Arteta: Man City assistant

Honours: :tumbleweed:

Slot: AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven manager

Honours: 1 Dutch league win, 1 Dutch Cup win

Hardly Ancelotti were they?

Jeez what nonsense, in my lifetime I have seen Brendan Rogers, Hodgson, Dalglish and now Arne Slot get the Liverpool job.

An intelligent, young, hardworking, trophy winning manager is more than capable to be considered like.

Daft to suggest otherwise.

Howe is a better manager than Arteta every day of the week.

I don't see many people downplay his achievements, what he's done for us is tremendous, and I hope it doesn't get nasty for him I really do, but this isn't just a bad patch or a few mistakes it's 45-50 games of problems not being resolved, and if you watch his NUFCTV interview despite him clearly being desperate to turn it around he still doesn't sound like he knows why it's happening or Indeed how to fix it.

We've really got fans saying we won't have Europe next season so he should do better, which is a minnows mentality in itself, what happens when we get back into Europe?

Him and his nephew have already wasted a fortune and people seem to think letting him do it again is going to suddenly turn our fortunes around next season when he's now shown a consistent inability to adapt.

In the next four years, do we reckon a new manager gets us in the CL twice, two cup finals and wins us a cup?

Do we think Howe does though? I’m not so sure on either but less certain we do the way things are going.

I think Howe has as much chance as anyone.

How many managers would have achieved what he has at Newcastle too?

People are saying Maresca and Iraola are better managers. That is completely disrespectful towards what Howe has done here imo.

I 100% agree but I think this season would make them look at other options given our form and league position.

Impossible to say, but I’m sure not many, if any, would have achieved what he has.

But moving forward I’m not confident the success he’s had will continue.

We get further than the QF next time?

With a squad and budget that is bigger and better than this seasons.

Just need to be able to emotionally handle the ups and downs of supporting a team.

It feels like his achievements are being downplayed with the speed with which people are wanting to dump him.

Nah. I don’t think it’s likely at all. Howe needs this summer, he needs transfers largely taken out of his hands but delivered players who fit the profile of being able to do a lot of pressing and tracking back, but with technical quality as an absolute must. If it takes getting in players who still need a decent amount of development, so be it. We need to refresh large areas of the squad and he needs a ton of time on the training pitch with them. We’re back in the CL the season after next if all of the above happens and we’re likely challenging deep for the FA cup and League cup again next season. If people aren’t satisfied with that they can fuck off

Sometimes the grass is greener you know.

You seem utterly convinced that anyone but Howe would be a huge mistake.

It’s a very naive and narrow minded way of thinking, to believe the only possible outcome of replacing Howe would be a bad outcome.

It might turn out good.

It might turn out bad.

You can’t possibly say for certain what will happen.
