I’m still Howe in, bit more because I am not convinced we can find a better manager than an Eddie Howe at his best than the fact I’m confident he’ll turn this around. Eddie is a man of introspection and learning from mistakes though, so I’d still give him the start of next season on the odd chance he’ll rebound. I also don’t want his time with us to end on such a sour note.

Really?

Like I think he should stay next season because wee simply cant find anyone better, but he needs to go after that. I don't want to waste another season in Europe with him. I don't understand anyone who thinks using a season when we ain't in Europe and nearly half the league (with a squad as strong as ours) is a good way of judging Howe. We all know what the problem.

1st half was shit

2nd half was better but still a lot of the same defensive problems, players switching off

Season just needs to end now and we need to start again

I dont know how he can survive until Monday. I like him but I think the way its going doesn't look good for survive until monday. For me its the players that have let it come to this.

He's not blameless but you can't deny  they've been terrible

You think he's asking a fresh Murphy to stand still for the 2nd goal?

That was fucking tragic. Not just the result. Everything about that was rancid. Off the back of a battering at Barca and 2 x identikit losses one of which was the derby.

Genuinely struggling to see how he turns this round. Feels like the end of the Howe era to me.

I don't agree. I think he talks about learning from mistakes so often that people have started to believe it, the evidence on the pitch suggests otherwise. The same problems continue to exist and he isn't doing anything at all differently to remedy them.

Keegan said it best . " No one person is the bigger than the club". Unfortunately at the moment it seems Eddie is hurting us more than helping us.  He looks bereft of ideas , and seems to be doing that manager in trouble thing of being stubborn about your weaknesses, said elsewhere I think he's got a bit of an ego, and he seems to blind to the fact that he could be wrong , "this must work !!" It's rare in the modern game things turn back to the positive from here. He's done amazing things here but it's not happening and he doesn't seem to have the first clue on how to fix it.

He has in majority of his time at the club to be fair, but I don't think now's the time to make this point mate.

He's lost the dressing room, the players aren't playing for him anymore.  They looked utterly gutless until Trips and Bruno were on the pitch and basically just didn't give a shit.

that’s what I think as well. The players really checked out

It’s been a poor season but there’s been a bit of hope. League Cup semi, progressed well in the FA Cup and CL before being stopped by juggernauts. was in the European race before the injuries started compounding.

Just can’t see anyone else doing any better. Think the club would be set back years if Eddie goes.

The club and Eddie have sat on their hands too much with player trading. They stuck with players they trusted. We now have a squad thats old, tired and without technical ability. It worked until it didn't. Even I'm sick of half the squad, and I used to adore the fuckers.

The worrying part of it all is that this and Palace feels like the first time I’ve thought he’s lost the dressing room. Ramsey jogging back to track one of their lads was a galling instance but a general lack of desire to challenge for 50/50s and put ther head in where it hurts was really worrying. This is going to be a hard last 5 games

I think he is feed up himself and is too proud a guy to stick around when it is clear his ideas have run their course, I think we will see a statement before the last home game of the season saying he has decided to step down, he gets to go with his head held high, rightly so, the fans get to give him a send off and we go into the summer with a new guy and a new recruitment strategy.

didn’t you think Murphy was not coached to follow the left back in these kinda build-up?

Murphy is the last one that is not willing to run for the team. He is a die hard fans for Newcastle. Why would he down-tool when the team is in crisis?

He is just not been coached in training re these pattern. I am surprised that you single out Murphy to down tool

Not advocating for Howe to stay (and I still wouldn’t hate it if he did) but I’m struggling to see how a new coach gets this current crop of players to be any more successful? Buying half a new team just is not feasible under the restrictions.

I really hope this is the case but the media and social we ramp up, I'd love fucking love it for him to be given a new season with dof finally in place. We will miss him i promise you that
