midds
I think we're watching the cumulative affects of a dreadful, disappointing, frustrating and draining season on all concerned with NUFC. The players look utterly fucked mentally and physically, as does Howe, the fans are just generally pissed off and the end of the season can't come quickly enough, we're done and have been for a month or 2 now, all of the kicks in the knackers and gut punches we've been taking since pre-season are taking their toll. No idea where we go from here but I know I barely give a fuck about the rest of the fixtures, win them all, lose them all I just don't care, sooner 25/26 is put to bed the better, it's been horrific, fuck it

Botman looking great today. Miley getting sharper. Wolt offering something we’ve been missing. There’s some shoots of recovery from recent form there. Pope, Murphy, Willock (who played well) Burn (as something other than 4th choice cb) and maybe even Barnes are looking like they are nearing the end of their time with us. We’re talking a Wissa stumble away from a decent point. Respectfully disagree. Didn’t expect us to win, but having watched the game, a point was there for the taking for remotely competent side, which we currently aren’t. I bet a penny to a pound the same performance doesn’t happen against Brighton, forest and West Ham in the next 3 weeks. No argument from me, I’d be surprised if we get more than a single point across those fixtures.

Mattoon
This season is his Bournemouth relegation season, the bubble has burst, Bournemouth never gave him the chance to turn it around so we'll never know if he could have, I still believe he can here.

Even with KK offering to resign summer of 96 feeling burned with hindsight that was the time. Bit even with KD coming in we finished second, had that night Vs Barcelona and a cup final whilst losing Shearer for lost of the season. If we had won the FA cup would there have been a clamour for him to stay on? I doubt it, it was clear that we had hit the end of the road WHAT? Dalglish finished 2nd with Keegan's team, dismantled it and had us 13th in his first season. Souness was appointed in September, four or five games into the season and took us from 5th to 11th/12th IIRC. Terrible examples. 🤣

When managers like that eventually get to top teams, where the opposition play low blocks, and play smarter. That's when you see what they are worth. Gets more difficult. Holmesy
16 minutes ago, Pata said: 8th is basically par for us, especially after losing the Swedish cunt. Prime example how him doing a brilliant job for so long has raised the expectations too high. It’s been a grim season where everything goes wrong and it’s hard to stop that rolling boulder but we can do that in the summer and reset. Buy and sell well with an actual DoF in place. Would only sack him if Pep wants a new challenge, otherwise we are taking a side step at best. It’s not as simple as that, as has been discussed a billion times. Managers go stale, their voices stop being heard, their ideas and methods become boring for players. It’s why the top managers change things to keep the experience fresh. Eddie doesn’t. What you call a sideways step will likely still give us new momentum. And it will also take the rest of the league a while to figure us out again. Our current guise has been well and truly figured out. For example, Arsenal have scored only two goals from a short corner in the past year (I think the commentator said), both against us. Yorkie
In terms of the bigger picture, I don't really feel too different now to how I did after Bournemouth. Above all: absolutely minging and considering a date in the bath with a toaster. But beyond that, I'm still firmly on the fence. Outcome A; I can definitely picture a universe where we draw a line through this season, put faith in him and his relationship with Wilson, stabilise, and commence a new chapter. Outcome B, I can also definitely picture a universe where a true reset is completely necessary and he therefore has to be removed. Tonight's result doesn't really change anything for me. I was desperate to see the players not phone it in and I don't believe they did; we were pretty close to coming away with a point there. And despite their fragility, Arsenal are still a very good side. If Outcome A is going to happen then we've got to change the vibes around the place, and I would argue that a cliché spirited and narrow defeat isn't the worst way to make a start on that. If we'd done our usual trick of throwing points away - or getting battered - then I'd have predicted a continuation against Brighton. As it is, I'm less sure of what to predict next week. So now there's four more opportunities to lift the stink and. If he can't, it'll be Outcome B.
