I don’t know if this has been mentioned but if Carrick doesn’t get the manager’s job at MU I think it would be good to have him on the staff and working with Eddie as a future manager prospect.

Any thoughts?

Imagine he sees himself as a manager now, rather than being part of someone else’s team.

Worked for Ian Cathro.

I’m convinced people will be saying the owners are disinterested until the first game kicks of in the new stadium.

Well we've been hearing about a training facility and stadium upgrades for how long now? Nary a shovel in the ground yet though. If zoning and other permitting laws in the UK are half as much of a pain in the arse as they are here, it could be a while longer.

Would have been easier to change the manager reading that article on Howe, some very damning lines.

Yeah, seems odd. Reassuringly the article picks up on pretty much every one of the things that have been discussed at length on this forum. If Eddie is ok with them, let's fucking go. If it proves too much change and too little control for him, we move on.

Not sure Howe would want to be grooming his own replacement either

Especially a worse one.

Right, but that doesn't mean the owners are disinterested. That's the part that's made up.

Firm announcements and then shovels in the ground would stop all that noise.
5 years and no agreed, approved plans is a genuine concern.

We don’t even have a decision announced o what they want to do with the stadium.

How long would’ve been OK?

I mean it seems like the deal to buy the land for the training ground has only just been done so...

I can forgive the speed of progress as long as we have progress which it appears we do.

Saudi economy seems to be flatlining and the ongoing war will only have made things worse. I do wonder if they are as enthusiastic about pumping money into foreign ventures as they were 5 years ago.

If the plan is to build over Leazes park then I imagine that’s quite bit of complication before you can commence, it’s not like it’s barren wasteland or vacant industrial space.

No idea. But City Group announced the training campus within 3 years of buying the club. Construction contract signed in 4.

FSG announced expansion to Anfield within 2 years of purchase.

Once it got to 4 years, I think it's reasonable to start asking questions. Otherwise... how long before you start asking questions? 5 year in November - no concrete plans... is it time to start asking questions by then if nothing has been announced? 6 years? 7??

Any firm announcement would be a big bonus.

I don't even think new training facilities and stadium expansion/new stadum is something only a oil-money type club would do. SJP hasn't had updating in 30 years, it's one of the few top flight stadiums to be in that position and most of the rest are in a similar position re: regeneration. Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford & Selhurst Park stand out.

Back in '97 I did my MEng sandwich at a historical surveyor in Castleside, designing a new fluxgate magnetometer mapping device (sounds made up, but isn't). They had the contract to map the proposed new stadium site for indications of ancient / medieval ploughing under the current surface and so I did a portion of that to learn the limitations of the current devices.

As far as I was aware PIF were going to fund 50% of the stadium directly whereas I would assume the stadiums like Old Trafford, Selhurst Park and Stamford Bridge would be funded by borrowing against the club.

Gunuinely - so what?

If I understand correctly - if the stadium is owned by the club a club entity will pay for it. So then it’s a matter of financing.  I doubt financing is a hold up.

Personally I would prefer an owner foot the bill for the financial health of my football club. Ask a Man U fan how they like their club being loaded with debt.

But you are right, I doubt financing is a hold up, so more than likely it is planning issues of some sort.

Well I hope that process is well underway, but I haven't heard anything like that. I admit I could be dead wrong.

You’re conflating lots of different things.

If a club entity owns the stadium the club will be paying for it.  Maybe some type of low interest loan, I don’t know.  Either way - finance is not the reason for delay.

Man Utd debt was part of a leveraged buy out.  Thats nowt to do with spending on infrastructure.

Youre making strawman arguments in a desperate bid to defend PIF.  but why?
