Or continue to drift into mediocrity, let's be fair. We are going backwards at the moment.

Or dare see what happens when you actually buck the trend in football and don’t sack your manager?

(especially one who’s proven time and time again to be excellent).

Lost all confidence in this bloke and don't think he will ever get it back. He must go this summer, or else we are Spurs next season.

My biggest worry is that Howe will continue to be stubborn and go with the same style/setup and similar type of players (especially out wide).

This isn’t a worry. He has confirmed that he is going to do exactly this.

I’m not willing to lay the blame solely at Eddie’s door for last summer’s window like. You can paint your agenda that way if you want, but if you have no structure in place to go out and get the players that were much higher on the list, what do you expect.

The owners should take far more responsibility for that.

(Eddie’s not blameless of course, but 90% of his transfers in his tenure have been outstanding… there’s no reason why we can’t move forward with another good run of transfers)

We were trying to sign players that Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea were also trying to sign which is a complete waste of time. Getting the lesser known players from the Continent was the way to go, that's how we ended up with Bruno and Isak but for some reason we deviated away from that and went for names that everyone knows, or PL proven.

You are reading far too much into it IMO. I'm sure there are journalists who look for the controversial angle, but sometimes they are just asking a genuine question which the fans want to know the answers as well.

I'm sure Scurr could have worded it better, but he doesn't strike me as a deliberate cunt.

Won’t let it go though…

Thought Howe was pretty unlucky today TBH. Went for a different formation, mixed it up well, we had loads of attacks we wasted due to individual lack of quality.

Subs were great, led to a goal, we let one in at the end to throw away the win.

What was the different formation? I was expecting 3-5-2 but that would have been with Hall and Murphy as the wing backs.

Also proven time and time again that he can't juggle a season and the prem

he chose to go back to his Plan A. I won’t say he is unlucky. Had he continue his first half set up, even if it’s just a 0-0 draw he would have got lots of praises here already

I praised him in the game thread for the first half setup. I am fucking furious to see him going back to his Plan A. Just why?

I’ve never seen an NUFC as mentally weak as this one in terms of closing matches out.  We’d have dropped points last week if old Minty didn’t miss an open goal.  It’s went beyond being annoying and arrived at being hilariously expected.

It isn’t bad luck, it’s bad coaching.  If Howe’s here next season, the first priority signings should be new backroom

staff - get some new ideas and new faces into there.  Whatever is happening on the training ground and in the dressing room isn’t working.

It's a chicken and egg situation though. We saw Man City completely fold without Rodri, not a single person on this planet would have guessed how mentally fucked the would look after losing 1 player.

It’s not chicken and egg for me.

It’s a manager who can’t get his team to do what’s needed to see out winning or drawing positions and convert them into points. And whose side concede late goals game after game after game.

It’s a mentality issue across the entire group. And for me, that’s down to their gaffer.

What?

So you’d prefer that he didn’t change to 4-3-3 to get us the goal?

Howes comments re: Hall playing RB instead if Trippier....

"Obviously, Kieran's future has been revealed, so I'm focusing on the players that I know are going to be here next year."

Really don't like the tendency to single out individual players when the entire team has been dogshit.

Of course no individual is performing, the entire structure of the football team is broken and setting up everyone for failure.

It didn’t look like Plan A to me. Has he ever played Woltemade behind a striker before? Or a double pivot midfield.

We had lots of promising attacks, the players just wasted them.

I'd like to know how many games we've played at least one player out of their preferred position. Feels preposterous (and desperate/irrational). He's done this from the very start of the season. A few examples:

Gordon CF

Burn LB

Woltemade CM

Barnes RW

Hall RB

Murphy RWB

Any more?

The disastrous first half at home to Everton was the nadir of a staggering pattern. It's all a bit "might as well" from such a supposedly methodical thinker.

You can blame the setup (above Howe) to a degree. Elanga however was high up on his list even if not the #1 target maybe, there's no denying that. Even then, buying him because we couldn't get Mbeumo or whoever for example is like going into a Mercedes Benz store and just because you couldn't buy your main target you go out with a sink instead of looking elsewhere. I'm dead certain that Nickson would have liked us to sign other players than Elanga and that he had other better options.

"I’m looking at the team and the team is playing well"

I think the answer to all our problems is a lot simpler than we all thought.

Eddie just needs to get himself a pair of specs
