iklgizmo
Yea I don't think playing at St James is necessarily a good idea yet. Quite often happens in the WSL that teams play in the main stadium and it's just a weird echoy(?) vibe as you're not going to get a decent crowd. Better to play somewhere smaller for that Liverpool game, but really try and push for a heavy attendance. Maybe Kingston Park, but let nufc season ticket holders in for free to try and start encouraging more people in. Also, if we do win the league this year, they'll need a huge overhaul of players to do well next season. Will be interesting to see if they go down the Man U women route of bringing in a high profile manager to attract some bigger names. I assume they'll go pro if they're in the next league up, so a half decent squad will have the chance to do a double promotion!
Sifu
St James' confirmed, 1st May, a day after the men's game against Liverpool there.
et tu brute
Do they get promoted to the next level if they win the league this year? If they do is the next step, the same league with the mackems? Edited March 23, 2022 by et tu brute

We're in Division One North (4th level) this year meaning promotion is to the Northern Premier Division (3rd level), Sunderland are in the Women's Championship (2nd level) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women's_football_in_England#Pyramid
Danh1
Seen someone on Twitter saying how good it would be to get a big crowd and even Wor Flags there. Would be sensational that. Think I’m going to go like.
nbthree3
Women's football is only on the rise and there's lots of expansion growth in the future. Great time to get on the wave and start something inspiring that future generations can get onboard
Decky
Be class if people really got behind this. Wor flags would be amazing but i guess for them they need an idea of how many will actually be there before they can plan a display.
JonBez comesock
Nice to see the owners doing the right thing we could have the best womens team in the U.K. in 5 years time if they do it correctly the talent in the north east is exceptional definitely going on May 1st hopefully they can get promoted and aim to get promoted again next season into the championship Positivity
jack j
Should give season ticket holders a loyalty point for it That will get the attendance up? Think al take me little lasses

Yes agreed , I can see at least 8k or 10k Might be busy/delayed…. as it’s only (pay at the gate) think the divisional record at this level is Notts forest women (4,500)
Stifler
If they did pre-bought tickets, it may have got the attendance up as people could buy them in advance instead of buying them on the day and do something else instead, where as pre-bought tickets become more of a commitment. It’s a bank holiday the Monday after isn’t it? So hopefully if they can get some events on around the ground, that may encourage more people to come? toontownman
Huge top of the table clash. 1-1 against Liverpool feds in the 62 minute. We just hit the bar after winning a penalty.
et tu brute
Finished 1-1 missed penalty and now looks like they probably won't go up (seems stupid only one team is promoted). Shame as would have been canny for them.
Peppe
I can't say that I watch that much of womens football, mostly when there is an international tournament, but I appreciate that they don't go down like they've been shot every time someone comes near them, like the men do. It's a bit weird that there not allowing you to buy a ticket in advance. How do they know how many stands to open, or how much catering they need? Could be anything from 500 up to 30,000 people and everyone only has 45 minutes to get a ticket at a turnstile!!
Paullow
What's the reason for the fixture change? Was meant to be Barnsley but seems like Alnwick have taken their place. It's good for Alnwick players, and might add a bit more on the gate being a sort of derby, but seems a bit strange just to be swapping matches around, especially with Alnwick giving up a home match. WillingtonMag
Should play at another ground mind don't want them making a mess of the pitch.

Agreed , it’s ridiculous they should of sold tickets in the month running up to this then cash turnstiles on the day seems a strange decision and will probably mean the attendance is lower than it could of been

toontownman
Surprised they didn't pick a weekend we weren't playing at home the day before. Hopefully a good clear plug at the Liverpool game might pull a few more in. Hope some people come out for it.

We literally have 1 more home game left after this weekend They will probably rip the pitch up anyway throughout the summer if not , they have 3 months to get it ready for next season The womens team should be able to play 4 or 5 times a season on the pitch without any issue (they could easily fit in them in and around our fixtures / run of away games / international weekends)….etc no doubt in a few years time they will have their own mini stadium (like Man City) but I still think 2-3 games a season would be manageable for any top club / groundsman ?
