That’s harsh on Rice. He’s really underrated as an England player it seems. He had to cover the entire midfield with no real help from Mainoo.

But point taken, I think we need someone of Zubimendi’s quality to sit in there for us

I think he was exposed but just think Rice sometimes struggles with the basics of passing the ball, very much a good PL player due to his engine, but against the best looks technically inferior to me.

Zubimendi is class but his next move is probably better served for Arsenal or Man City. We have Bruno playing that exact role here.

Bruno can play further forward equally as top class, we don't have anyone remotely close to replacing Bruno in the deeper role with it impacting us. Tonali maybe closest, but he still wasn't used like that at AC Milan.

Just more if we did target a CM, it needs to be that type of player IMO.

Why are there no English clubs linked to En-Nesyri? He's in his last contract year, seems perfect for a PL targetman.. Does he have injury issues or something or he really hates British weather?

Mateta is another striker, who I thought would generate more interest.. I'd love him as an option for us.

Are you sure? I did not get a chance to watch him at AC Milan, but Transfermarkt, FootballCritic, and TotalFootballAnalysis have him playing mainly as a defensive midfielder. I will not worry about our midfield until we sort the RW and CB positions.  I think a backup striker is more important as well.

Played deep in a two, but it would be more Kessie / Bennacer who would do the real deep stuff which is what’s being talked about.

Perfectly suited for us in that RCM role or even LCM, but wouldn’t want him doing what Bruno does and getting the ball on half turn deep etc. Just feel it’s an area where we do genuinely have a massive drop off if Bruno is out.

If he's decided to move on from Barca, with Yamal's emergence then this is probably the best move for our right wing.

The Brazil connection with Bruno and Joe should be key, the prem experience playing in a high intensity side, his age profile is in line with Bruno's and Joelinton's too, which adds more experience and likely quickens our progression this upcoming season.

The issue with this guy will be the wages he expects to receive.

He is on £200,000 per week at Barca. So pretty close to Bruno and Isak money. Maybe a personal sponsorship deal for adidas or sela might help.

He's first choice RW for Brazil. Its the going rate sadly and he'd expect to be on par with our best paid players given his profile.

He'd be my first RW choice albeit I dont know what budget we're playing with.

I saw Savio signed for City. Any chance Bobb is available?

Only if we can let Rowan Atkinson do the signing presentation.

Just looking at who could be possible replacements for Trippier if he were to be sold. If Tino will be the main guy, how about Lamptey as back up? 12 months left on contract, could be attainable for £10m-£15m I feel. Enough about his game to provide a good option to Tino.

Lamptey has always been quality when I have seen him, though isn't his injury record from the same ilk as Wilson?

Aye - his career trajectory is an odd one and injuries have played a part this last couple of years.

He looked mustard when he first established himself in the Brighton team.

Gut feel is that he might be available on the cheap, unless their new manager fancies him as he plays with wingbacks afaik.

Someone knowledgeable about Brighton a while ago mentioned the club internally think he's going to keep getting injuries however they determine that, hence them not being able to sell him for big bucks and limited game time.
