It's great he's got his spark back, and if he's happy with his surroundings, him staying for final year is great for us based on this form. Means we don't need to make any moves for a RB, or if Targett was to leave, we could get a raw youngster in who's got 12 months training before taking over squad competition. They might be hoping for Shahar stepping up in the next 18 months or so. It will be interesting to see if he goes out on loan.
Aiston
Been great to see him find his quality again recently.
STM
Another player who i was convinced was finished. There's no way we let him go next season. He's such a formidable leader on and off the pitch. With CL football we need a squad and even if Tripper doesn't start in the CL, we might need him in the next PL game or whatever. He's one of those guys who could have a place at the club way beyond his playing days. If he's got an eye on management, he should take a similar path to Arteta with Guardiola, except with Howe. I can't think of a better way to learn your trade than stepping alongside Howes coaching staff.
KaKa
Yeah, I was certain this man was done too. No chance he's playing at this level at the minute. Can't get my head round it. I'd agree he has to stay on next season now you'd imagine. Looks like the family issues were really affecting him previously, and perhaps that is all subsiding a bit now. Very very impressive end to the season.

What would we fetch for him? £5 million? If Champions League is clinched, think it would be worth keeping him around as his experience and leadership behind the scenes would still be valuable, even if his form drops off. We'll still have other options in Tino and Krafth down that side too.
Super Duper Branko Strupar
What we'd get for him now will make absolutely no differences to our PSR wiggle room. Wouldnt have 1 year ago either and look what we got instead. Keep him and let him finish his career here imo.
Memphis
Like most everyone else, i figured he was done as a top-level player, but I couldn't be happier to be wrong. It really is fitting for him to be playing a key role in this side as it was him signing that started all of this momentum in the first place. Running more than he has in ages, he's putting in quality deliveries and linking up perfectly with Jacob Murphy on that right side. Appreciative that he handled Bruno being named captain with such class as well, that could have been ugly. Thrilled to see this version of him back and I'm happy to have him for another season in this role.
midds
His experience and versatility will be invaluable next season, more games means more bodies and he'd be ideal to rotate in and out at RB and LB. No idea how close he was to being sold in January but he's looked back to his best recently, it's like having 2 captains out there He did look to be struggling on the park before Xmas and I too was one of those who thought that moving him on would have been a good move, happy to admit I got that totally wrong, he's been excellent. We 100% need this Trippier next season too
sixx
There was a moment in last night’s match where Trippier won the ball and absolutely bombed down the right flank while frantically hand signalling Murphy instructions on where to place his run. He then played a near perfect ball in to Murphy’s run who almost set up Isak. Leadership and quality on the ball. I loved that. We can always do with him for another season and I hope he retires after that and will continue with us in some capacity.
Holloway
Not everyone on here wanted him binned off like, the totally finished patter was plainly ridiculous. He knows the position so well, sees things very early and delivers most of the time. And leadership of course, he never stops.
huss9
only 2 trophies in his career. won at Atletico then probably thought "where can i go to win another trophy?".
nufc123
Im sure Howe is desperate to keep him if he wants to stay and is motivated.

NSG
Another year and then on the coaching staff please.
Weezertron
We gave Ritchie and Dummet extensions and they were both done as far as playing goes. I think this run in the team will convince the club to stick rather than twist
ponsaelius
Doesn't need an extension if he's already got another year. I've thought he should go off into the sun on a high tbh but he's playing so well at the moment that I'm leaning towards wanting him to stay. Particularly if there is only pittance of a fee and saved wages on the table. We'd probably need to sign another fullback if he went and it'd be easier if we could kick the can down the road on that. Super Duper Branko Strupar
As well as being our best RB is he our best captain of the last 30 years or so? I cant remember anyone playing like he does. He's always with someone. Talking them through something. Edited April 17 by Super Duper Branko Strupar
Dr Venkman
Playing a significant amount of games across 4 competitions next season and then him getting one last pay day on a free is probably the best for all concerned TBH.
mondonewc
He's been immense in recent games, his legendary status at the club is locked in, and as said above there's no question he's the best RB to play for Newcastle in the modern era. However, I think best for both parties would be for Trippier to move on this Summer. He's 5th highest in wages at the club I believe, that's a lot of wages going to a backup RB which is what he will be next season. Sure he has a lot of experience, but we have many senior players with good experience now, and more importantly all who've now won something. We can't keep hold of everyone forever, as much as we love them, and for him it seems best to go somewhere he'll be 1st choice for the last stage of his career, he spoke about this in an interview with Neville that he's no issue dropping down leagues if he needs to in order to play, so that may well be his wish. Smal
I think his leadership alone is worth the wages tbh. Especially when you consider you would have to replace him if he left - it’s not like you just wipe out the wages and there’s no transfer fee etc. to bring in a replacement. I maybe undervaluing the leadership element, but I don't think that's justification to keep a backup RB on such big wages given the trust I have in the management team and the amount of experience we have among the players in the dressing room. My heart says he's earned the right to choose when he goes, my head says we need to be ruthless in moving players out at the right time and this Summer feels like the right time for me with Trippier. Ronson333
Take him off set pieces for heaven’s sake. It’s crazy he’s on all of them, surely the management team must see this too.
huss9
really poor today - but the whole 10 outfiekd players were. he got caught out of position so many times. their second was inexcusible
buzza
The pair of them magnified the mistakes, was obvious villa targeted our right sided of the defence, watkins was always between him and schar and pissed all over them
