Posters saying he's imperious, needs a new contract asap and the defence should be built around him. If this is a transitional season as Howe has declared it, use it to develop new pairings while results can't exactly get any worse (ie, Ramsdale in goal, Thiaw & Botman given a chance to develop a partnership, Miley or Ramsey playing more often than Joelinton). For me there’s this assumption that Botman is a level above Burn at CB. Overall I’m not convinced that he is. Around that time I honestly was bit confused why he got much praise for his performances. Thiaw has been absolutely terrific but Botman was just alright to me in most games. Perhaps he looks very composed on the ball and can ping a pass sometimes so people think he is class. In terms of defending I really thought he was just alright. He should have done better against Merino for their equaliser imo he gave him too much space. He also made Welback look like prime R9 (okay bit of an exaggeration probably). He’s had some really bad luck with injuries, he’s only 25 and today he played like he was 35. If that’s as fast as he will be able to run now, he’s not making it in the Premier League.
