But with this though, Gayle hasn’t said anything unpleasant. He’s just confirmed the Hope stuff was true (and that there was clearly a mole) as well as providing some other eye-opening insights into what a chancer this bloke is. He doesn’t have this level of hatred because he’s a terrible manager (even though he is), but because he’s a terrible bloke. I feel for any members of his family going through any tragedy. They deserve sympathy. He doesn't get nor deserve any let up because of that though and if he tries to play that card then that's another black mark against him iyam. Not a criticism of anyone; just saying personally the timing doesn’t feel right. He hasn’t tbf, so can just stick to criticising all the crazy things he has done and said. It’s good these things have still come out from Dwight fwiw - given we were told how nasty we all were in that empty stadium to such a nice bloke, proper footballing man etc.
McDog
I believe you lads call people like this a "bellend". I am also sorry for his loss but his response was idiotic. I mean, it was confirmed he didn't do shit in training. OK lads, we're hitting it hard on Tuesday this week. Be ready to run around the cones for no less than two hours. gbandit
Bellend’s quite a soft insult. Think it’s mainly used when describing a loser or someone that’s annoying, bit of a wanker. Don’t think it has the level of vitriol that most fans hold for him

Superior Acuña
Dwight Gayle played a crucial role in getting us promoted back to the PL where we remain. Done a lot more for us than Bruce regardless of some bad connection in a cup game we had fuck all chance of anyway under Bruce

At least their contribution is either negligible or neutral. They didn’t actively damage the club, as crap as they were. Steve Bruce was negative, toxic, took the club even further backwards and still continues to spout nonsense to this day. Even Joe Kinnear was at least mildly entertaining even though up until Bruce was probably the biggest embarrassment associated with the club

Tbf the main reason he's got any gig, much like a good few other regular (white) managers, is so many club owners are thick as fuck. Took over WBA when they were in the playoffs and when he was sacked they were lower-mid table. When they replaced him they immediately got back into the playoff spots. .it's the Villa one, for me. Bottom half of the Championship while he had Mings, McGinn, Grealish, Abraham. He left, they ended up promoted.

He did imply this though and said plenty of unpleasant things about Rafa too. Bruce did recommend Howe though apparently. So we should really be thanking him as the main reason we won the Carabao Cup. Edited March 24 by St. Maximin

On this, it's truly terrible what has happened with his family. I don't think anyone would, or did, laugh about that at all. And it's not preachy, it's a useful reminder that there are real human things going on outside football. I reacted to his OTT response to the measured comments made by Gayle about football, when he was asked about him in an interview and then some terrible memories of how he acted as a football manager for his spell here. No matter my own dislike of how he managed us, or even why he took the job in the first place, that's all secondary to real life but I think everyone here knows that. AyeDubbleYoo
I really don’t understand why clubs tie themselves to these contacts where they have to pay millions to sack someone. It’s mad. Surely the manager needs the club more than the club needs the manager? I’d have thought performance clauses where they can be sacked below a certain league position would be much more common. Yeah, I agree with all that - and Gayle’s comments were all measured (unlike Bruce’s salty response). More saying on a personal note the timing didn’t seem right, but that’s not a criticism on anyone else. We all saw what he was like as a manager and it’s still a good thing these comments from Gayle have come to light.
