Even Man U fans were 90% in favour of it and at the time of that poll they'd just come off 27 years of almost continuous success.

If PIF came along and promised Sunderland untold millions, CL football and more importantly a chance to permanently leave the mags for dust in their wake, they'd have wanked their nobs clean off in delight.

In 27 years people there will be fan’s completely unaware of the Ashley era and we’d be warranted of our success.

Man U are the juggernaut they are due to years of sustained success through having more money at said time than others.

Their record is pretty rank average really, losing 6 out of 13 games is piss poor, Rotherham who are 2nd bottom have only lost 1 more game than them. They have a few decent individuals who i think will be poached by better championship or lower end prem clubs but as a whole they are a bang average championship side. Their fans are deluded as fuck if they think they are anywhere near one of the top sides in the league

Man Utd were the biggest club in the country before they had sustained success.  They haven’t averaged less than 35k on the gate since before WWII

The fact that Boro have gone above them after the horrible start they had just goes to show how bad actually things have started to turn against the mackems.

Did a course at work a few months ago and the bloke taking it was mackem. He was adamant that if PIF had took over Sunlun then he would cut all ties with the club and stop going. I called him out on his bullshit but he kept saying it over and over. It was pretty funny like.

He might have but they'd be 47000  sell outs at the SoS, tickets would be like gold dust

Not sure on that, growing up in eighties Liverpool definitely felt like the bigger club by some margin.

Quick read of RTG and it seems questions are being asked of mogga. Don't worry though, a couple of wins against bottom half championship teams will have them thinking they can give PSG and AC Milan a game once again.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw they were above the Real Madrid of the Champo.

Mowbray is doing a cracking job with the squad he has. He’s known for managing young players well. The mackems need to be careful what they wish for.

Bob Murray’s entire focus at sunderland  was being better than Newcastle, he failed. He’s still a bitter old clown.

They always felt like the most successful one back then - but Man Utd always pulled the crowds and had the glamour feel to them (despite OT being in the middle of one of the biggest shit tips in the country)

Almost. They had 1 season in 61/62 where they averaged under 35k (33,491).

They do have the biggest fanbase in the Country by a mile though and the figures back that up. Nobody really comes close.

Newcastle hold the Premier League record of never having played a home game in front of under 30k.

Nonsense. I'd never heard of them before 1993 and Old Trafford was a cricket ground.
