I'm in my 50's and have always been told from an early age and class now, that a Geordie is someone who is born in a location set on the banks of the river Tyne. Also that the name Geordie comes from the time when we sided with George the 1st (George's men  Geordies) against the Jacobites. Talk of the Stephenson lamp also being mentioned as where the name comes from, but the George 1st affiliation is documented during the Jacobite uprising time, so the term Geordie more likely comes from that, rather than the lamp imho.

Mind those thick fuckers across there are full of just blatant lies, which they make up and start to believe. The cowards then ban anyone who try's to correct them.

The one I always heard from older folks is the one listed on the Newcastle Council website - born North of the Tyne and within a 1 mile radius of Newcastle.  Which seems pretty exacting.  It is all a bit daft and meaningless tbh.

Suppose depends where you're from then, I was born at the Green in Wallsend, but lived all through my childhood and teens in Walker and everyone used to go by the one I mentioned. You're right though it is a bit meaningless especially coming from a mackem cunt.

I heard that Norwich has fallen since then mind, people openly wearing black and white on the streets with no mackem enforcers to give them the eyeball or just burst out laughing

No letterboxes are being watched. We use to be a proper country.

Thing is cities and suburbs expand and grow so, really so should definition.

I don't suspect anyone calls themselves anything other than a Geordie if they're from anywhere within about a 5 to 10mile radius of Newcastle North of the Tyne and South of the Tyne probably about 4 or 5miles.

8 months out and Miley was one of the best players on the pitch last night, whilst making his debut.

This is the Jobe who left for a pittance and not one premiership club attempted to sign him. There is a reason why he is currently playing championship football at Sunderland. If he does eventually get an opportunity to play premiership football, then we can start comparing him to Miley. Miley has still a lot to prove, but he's achieved far more than Poundland Jobe so far

Is Joe Bellingham actually any good? Only seen him play once and he was rubbish but I accept that might have been a one off. He was getting slagged off a lot last year by Sunderland fans for not offering much.

He was very average last season. Played far too many games, and suffered from not having a regular position. This season, with a proper manager, he seems to have found his feet and doing this biz at that level. As we know though, that level is very low, especially this season. He'll be a prem player though, no doubt about it.
