As a serious point though, I sometimes think of that Makem YewTewber and his trips round to his pal Wency's before they go to the match They're middle to old age blokes sat in a garden shed downing ale and necking Sambewca shots in the mid to late morning, just to go and watch a game of football Am sure there's people doing similar amongst our support. And as that article points out, alcohol deaths are a massive problem for the North East region, not just Sunderland For me those Makems on YewTewb definitely emphasised the potentially dangerous relationship between watching football and alcohol / alcoholism Edited Monday at 12:13 by bobbydazzla
enthusiast Posted Monday at 12:11 Share Posted Monday at 12:11 that report seems a bleak to thing to milk a chuckle out of, not least if you actually read the thing: Quote Sunderland is not a particular outlier in north-east England for alcohol-specific deaths. KennyUtd Posted Monday at 14:53 Share Posted Monday at 14:53 Just had a quick nosy on RTG and the thread about sharing their shithole ground is STILL going. Started on the 6th of Jan and currently has over 1200 comments. Comforting themselves with the possibility/dream we'll be sold. No work on training ground seems to point to a loss of interest from PIF. And we're the delusional ones. 🤦♂️🤷😆😄😅

It is fucking awful and its not exactly as if Newcastle is a utopia of full employment with all earning more than a living wage. The NE is desperately poor in relation to most of the UK, the result of neglect and the (sometimes deliberate) destruction of local industry. All are in the same bucket. More than happy to laugh at their football team and their delusions of grandeur, mind.
